I have an existing eternity band; 2 tcw at 10 points each stone, size 6 1/4. Now am going through "diamond shrinkage"! I am sure you ladies know the feeling.

So thinking of getting another ring; 3 TCW at 18 points each stone, still size 6 1/4. Will I see an appreciable difference?

Also, is a 3 tcw eternity band comfortable? I'm thinking of a Memoire type setting.

Sandy, are you wearing the ring alone or with an engagement ring? And if you are wearing it with an e-ring, what size is that diamond? I love a 3 ct. eternity ring as a stand alone ring, but it takes a really large diamond solitaire to look balanced with an eternity ring that large.

I think it would definitely be a noticeable difference. With regards to comfort, my eternity band has 20 pt diamonds and it is very comfortable. It is a shared prong eternity very similar to the picture you have, but my prongs aren't quite as inset as your picture. I think it would be comfortable for you, it just takes a few days of wearing to get used to the ring.

Thanks gals.

diamondseeker2006 - This will be a STAND ALONE ring. I do have an E-Ring but will wear it with the existing 2 tcw eternity band.

armywife - Do you have a picture of your ring? What size are you?

I do, but I am on vacation at the moment and only have my iPad with. I will be able to upload some tomorrow when I have access to my computer with the pictures!

As far as size, unfortunately I am an 8.25 :angryfire: Pregnancy was not kind to my finger size.

I own an eternity band with diamonds which are just under 18 points each. I find it comfortable.

I would visit a store and try on various eternity bands. Though rings with big stones are gorgeous, there reaches a point that I call "tractor tire" where many people experience discomfort from the sides of the rings bulging out and rubbing against neighboring fingers.

Sky56 - Regarding your comment (great to take into consideration) ""tractor tire" where many people experience discomfort from the sides of the rings bulging out and rubbing against neighboring fingers" - What is the largest size stone before that starts happening in your opinion?

diamondseeker - Thanks for posting sna77's Tiffany setting, it's beautiful. I like the scale of the diamonds....but her finger size is 3.5, mine is 6.25. So hard to tell.

As you mentioned; gotta get out to the stores and try some on. Great idea.

I recently upgraded my eternity from 20 pointers (size 6.5) to one with 20 pointers, and it's a huge difference!!! To me, anyway  As a stand alone ring it is perfect.

DandiAndi - that is a BEAUTIFUL ring! What point size did you have before? What's the total carat weight of the new ring? Also, would love to see more shots of the ring if there are any...or a a link to another post?

Thanks Sandy, you are too kind! My original eternity was 2.09ctw made up of 10 point stones. This new one, with 20 pointers, is 3.40ctw.

Here is the link to the thread about the original band: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/oops-i-did-it-again-new-idj-eternity-ring.162747/

And here is the link to the thread about the new one: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-beautiful-idj-upgraded-eternity-ring.169131/
Hope that helps! :wavey:

Sandy, my band is identical to DandiAndi's. I am so glad she posted since I have been unable to...I cannot post pictures from my iPad :nono:

DandiAndi - Hope you are still out there. I'm trying to find a sample ring (today was at Tiffany) but the rings are not my size :angryfire: . Are you comfortable with your 20 point stones; i.e. any digging into the side of your fingers? Just taking my own poll here.

Armywife - Thanks for your comments & I do remember your saying your 20 pointers were comfortable.

I find it very comfy. It's more comfortable on my right hand, because it's a tad too big for my left hand so it sticks out a bit more (it's a 6.5 and my left hand ring finger is a 5.5). It is set so low it doesn't poke me, and several of my co-workers have tried it on and find it really comfy, too! I think it's important to get a band set as low as possible, for comfort's sake.

DandiAndi & Armywife - I'm still surfing the site. Curious, did you both get your rings at ID Jewelry in NY? People have been saying very positive things about the company.

Sandy, here is a pic of my upgrade from 1.65ct to 3.04ct eternity. I wear mine on its own so I definetly like the bigger stones :twirl: . Size 5 from Facets. HTH!

Have you considered a five stone band? No issue with comfort between the fingers and you could get larger diamond if that is your aim

I am a huge fan of stand alone band, and wear my own every day.

baby monster - Thanks for posting. Beautiful ring! Does your ring set LOW? I've heard people say that contributes to the comfort factor. Is there a thread to the details on your ring?

Dreamer D - Yes, I'm also now exploring the 5 stone ring option since I do want larger stones. I've got big knuckles that the ring has to fit over, so when the ring is in the right place it tends to SPIN. That's my only concern. But I tried one on yesterday; 1.5 ctw - it was wonderful!

Yes Sandy, I got mine at IDJ, I'd inquire about 5 stones form them too, their service is great and prices very reasonable. Because I'm all for the biggest diamonds possible of course

Sandy, I also got mine from IDJ in NY. I emailed them with what I was looking for and they were able to price everything out for me. Let them know you would like the pricescope quality diamonds, that way all of your diamonds are excellent/ideal cut and eye clean!

Sandy, I think it's set pretty low. I find it very comfortable and often forget that I'm actually wearing it. Comfort is a very individual thing though so I would suggest trying it on in the stone size you're looking for. I don't have a thread for it but it's 3.04ct F-G VVS, appx 17 pointers. Here is a side shot. Let me know if you have other questions or want more pics.

Sandy there are options for that, such as horseshoe sizers. Spinning might not be as much of an issue with a 5 stone than with a solitaire though because the diamonds at the ends abutt your adjoining fingers and that might help leep it in place a little.I simply love my half eternity/five stone-ish band and find it so comfortable. And as you saw, 30 point stones have a wattage you don't get with 17-20 point stones. It all really depends on the look you want!

In my opinion two factors affect comfort. First is the size of the diamonds and how high they stand off your finger. That is partly from ct. weight and partly from the mount and how low it sets. The other factor is the quality of the prong work on the ring. Here is where I do believe you get what you pay for. I owned a ring with poor prong work and it was very uncomfortable. My rings with good prong work are so comfortable. So try on lots of rings to make sure the style of the mount is right for you.

DandiAndi - OMG, "all for the biggest diamonds"....too funny!!

Armywife - What is the CTW, your finger size, point size. Same questions as above. How long have you had yours? Do you wear it a lot?

DandiAndi & Armywife - How long have you had yours? Do you wear it a lot? Checking in on the durability factor. I tend to carry a lot like bags of groceries. Also, what kind of settings did you get from IDJ? U or Shared Prong?

baby monster - Thanks for posting the second picture. What a beautiful ring!

Dreamer D - Do you have pictures of your 5 stone? What is the CTW, your finger size, point size? Or is there a link to a post about your ring? I'm intrigued.

Thanks everyone! this site is so helpful.

My Memoire eternity has 20 pointers. I love it and wear it every day without any discomfort at all.

My ring is has 20 point diamonds, size 8.25 :nono: , 17 diamonds, with a total carat weight of 3.4. I have had my band about 2 months and I wear it every day. The first day or two I noticed it because I was wearing a very thin plain band before. After that I barely notice it, unless I am looking at the fire it throws off. :naughty: I find it very, very comfortable and I have no issues with the durability. I wear it when I am running around with my 1 1/2 year old daughter, cleaning, ect and the only time I take it off is showering, hand washing dishes, and bed. The link below is the setting I have. I emailed Luann with the setting style number, diamond size, ring size, that I wanted PS quality diamonds, and that I wanted the setting to be as low as possible. She was very helpful and couldn't be more satisfied!

Hi, ON!!! Have you sent your ring to be set yet? We need an update!

I got a quote from Yekutiel before Christmas, but haven't had a chance to ship the stone or take the train up to NYC yet. Don't want to threadjack, but I did make another purchase. :D :D

Owies Nana - Thanks for the feedback. I saw the Memoire in the Neiman's catalog and liked the design. It's basically the same style (I believe) that everyone who has responded to me has (but from IDJ or Facets). Did you get your setting from a local jeweler or an online jeweler?

My setting is exactly the same as Armywife has, I've had it for a couple of months and haven't had any issues at all. I had my previous one for nearly a year and same thing, no problems.

Okay, we maybe need an update added to your Update thread, then!

(Sorry, Sandy!!!)
