Esperanza auction March 21, 2017

Thanks for posting this, whitewave. I was wondering what happened to the Esperanza... I thought there was a deal in the works after last year's star tour. I hope the sale goes well for all concerned!

I was surprised too!

Whiteflash had the privilege of being one of a select number of American Gem Society members to display the Esperanza. She spent several days here in Houston with us and we were all smitten.

Not only is it an absolutely one-of-a-kind diamond, the pendant is a stunning piece of wearable art. But what makes it even more spectacular is the amazing story of this all-American treasure.

The winning bidder will own a brilliant piece of Americana, a phenomenal piece of natural history, and an object d'art of peerless craftsmanship.

I wish all those with an interest in the sale the best of luck. My fervent hope is that one day the Esperanza will end up in the Smithsonian.
She belongs to America and should be on display for all Americans to enjoy!

Maybe that is the reason the original sale to the foreign buyer fell through. The gem gods want justice for her!

I agree she should be in the Smithsonian. If I find a biggun, I would (hopefully) plan to send it to them on loan or something like that.

Yes, a Canadian member of the AGS. The cutting equipment was specially flown down to Arkansas so the diamond could be cut where she was discovered.

North America, United States of America, American Gem Society = All-American :appl:

I hope she gets to stay in the US. Would love it if she went to the Smithsonian. Such a pleasure to get to see her and would love
to see her again...plus everyone would get the opportunity to see her.

Still cant believe that she was found in the US! :appl: I think I need to plan a trip to Arkansas... :cheeky:

Since Skinner's in Boston and auction open to the public? Can any of our Boston PS members go to the preview before the auction view this gorgeous diamond? Take some pics and post it here for those unable to see in person!! If anyone can bid, maybe we should convince someone from the trade to bid and place in their private collection! Texas leaguer ask Deb what she thinks! I vote for WF!! YAY!

7.5 carat brown found on the surface today!!!

By a child and it apparently resembles the "cooper diamond"

Did someone say pictures??? Ok, these were taken with my phone so really dont show off the beauty of this stone. If anyone can see
it in person I highly recommend it! I know Whiteflash has some lovely photos of Esperanza but not sure if they are allowed to post.

The Museum of Named Diamonds announced today it was working closely with the owners of the Esperanza diamond to help ensure a successful auction of the piece on March 21, 2017, in Boston. A change of name may be part of that process.

That would make sense. I think it should be named the "Miss America"

I hope the auction is a huge success for all concerned.
