I posted this in preloved but had no responses. So, if y'all don't mind I am going to repost here to see if there are any ideas on this company or another suggestion:

Hi peeps. I know this has been discussed before but anyone have good/bad things to say about Escrow.com? It is a sizable diamond. Paypal takes a huge chunk and as we know isn't seller friendly. This stone is certified by AGS so should be -0- issue but any recommendations, thoughts. If this is the wrong forum let me know. Thanks!

I have seen their name mentioned on a few watch enthusiast forums, not with great reviews. Not sure you get the protection you are looking for, sorry, can't remember all the details, proceed with caution.

If I were selling to an unknown buyer, I would use an appraiser as an intermediary. For the buyer, the stone can be verified as being in the condition specified in the lab report. For the seller, the stone could be held by the appraiser and shipped by the appraiser only when the funds had cleared. They can wire the money or may by back check, but my bank puts a hold on outside large checks for 7-10 business days, so the stone might not be shipped for 2 weeks until a check cleared. I would call someone like Neil Beatty and ask if he does this. I am sure he'd have a fee and someone would need to pay the shipping from the appraiser to the buyer. But nothing would be taken from the amount paid in fees like one of the payment services.

DS2006............100% the best idea!

How much money are we talking here? If it's getting into the really big range, maybe it's worth it to use a real escrow company as recommended by an attorney.

Thanks for feedback. I do appreciate it!
