I hope I'm asking this clearly.... I know that I want a full eternity wedding band. My ER setting will have micropave, but should the diamonds go all the way around as well to match the wedding band? Or will a 3/4 micropave still look ok with a full eternity wedding band? Can anyone show me examples? Particularly examples of how your rings look from the underside.

I prefer the look of a plain ER band with a blingy wedding band. Otherwise, all the bands blend together. Just my opinion though and I’ve seen both ways done nicely

If you are getting matching bands, then I would go all the way around on both. If they don’t match, I’d say it’s personal preference. Remember that you’ll need to wear a plain spacer band in between them to keep the diamonds from chipping each other or wearing away the metal of each respective ring.

I have an engagement ring with pave maybe 2/3 around and a matching full eternity wedding band. I have smaller fingers so from the top view, you can’t tell there is any difference. I also have another non-matching band that I can show.

I’m not wearing them today and not at home currently, but I can take a pic of the underside when I do get home.40D55D1D-AC8A-4278-87D1-78F34B157F19.jpeg46A35C54-7746-4C27-802B-D0EB51EAA74D.jpeg

I think I understand what you’re asking and I don’t think it’s a problem to have a 3/4 e-ring with an eternity band. The added durability and resize-ability of the 3/4 e-ring is a plus. You also won’t be able to tell they’re not matching most of the time. My e-ring has diamonds about 5/8 around and my wedding band is a 3/4. When they’re aligned, the underside looks mostly like two solid bands. What’s nice about the e-ring being 5/8 (or in your case 3/4) is that even when the ring twists, I still see a solid line of diamonds because the center stone bumps up against my neighboring finger which kind of prevents it from twisting any further (I included a pic of this too so you could see what I mean). Hope that makes sense!

OP, you might want to look at Show Me the Bling forum. Good luck

As a reminder that with a full eternity, sizing up or down for what ever reason is going to be difficult.

This is an excellent point and, at minimum I would at least have a small sizing bar on the underside. You can’t know what changes your fingers will have in the future and it’s not unusual as one ages, has children, etc.

Great point!!!

Welp, this thread might've been started in vain because when I told my bf that I want a 3/4 micropave band for the engagement ring, he reacted in such a way that leads me to believe that he's already finalized the ring design and he was under the impression that I wanted 1/2!! I am kind of crying on the inside now.

IF my ring really is 1/2 micropave, is it difficult or expensive to change it to a 3/4 after I receive it?

You will have to get a whole new setting to change it. I doubt it can be added after the fact. I wouldn’t worry about it - it will still be beautiful.

I wouldn't worry about it, the 1/2 will look pretty much like the 3/4 unless it spins, and will be more comfortable too! I've learned to just focus on enjoying the moment, being engaged is such a wonderful feeling and time in your life, the ring doesn't have to be perfect. You can always reset it later if it really bothers you!
