Welcome to pricescope! Belle has given you an excellent link that shows several online vendors. You can do a search on any of them and see feedback from actual customers on this site.
alicyn, I would think that before long a lot of the experts here will chime in. I don't feel like an expert at all. And I'm not that familiar with online vendors for settings, but to see rings in person, the best mall (aka "maul") stores are ones like Bailey, Banks, & Biddle (I'd name a few more but since stores can be regional, it'd depend on where you are. Pricescope does list vendors by state.). I would recommend that if you haven't already done so, you do shop in real stores at least to get ideas of what you like on your hand. Then you can pursue online options. Other vendors or custom names I've seen here a lot (which I would guess you can find in the link belle sent) are Whiteflash, Wink Jones, Pearlman's, Quest, Mark Morrell, Leon Mege, etc... - if you do a search on any of these names here on PS you will get tons of results. I am not recommending any of these as I have no experience with them yet myself; just throwing some names out to get you started, and this is by no means a comprehensive list - just what comes off the top of my head. If you mention what type of setting you are thinking of, you may get more input. e.g. if you like antique styles, there are websites like Fay Cullen, antiqueengagementrings, etc... Make use of the search feature on Pricescope as well. You will come across more vendor examples etc. than you ever wanted to know!
And the more you peruse this site, the more you will find tons of feedback on various vendors, as well as examples of their work.
I hope this helps. I wish I were more of an expert, but I wanted to at least give you some ideas.
