After much deliberation, I finally decided to upgrade my center stone but honored my original ring by keeping the same tapered baguette setting. I’ve always been in love with my setting but desired slightly more finger coverage and different proportions for the side baguettes. My original stone faced up around 7 mm and the baguettes had an elongated and narrow shape. I chose a 1.57 carat 60/60 diamond which faces up larger than its respective carat weight. The side stones are a better matched pair compared to those in my original setting and have a chunkier appearance relative to the larger stone.
It was a risky move as I had not seen the diamond in person but I knew I liked the super icy white and bright appearance of these stones as my original engagement ring also had close to 60 60 proportions. The upgrade stone scores a 1.4 on HCA.
Below are the stats and a few pics I snapped although today was rather gloomy! The diamond does not disappoint IRL and I’m very pleased with the end result.
