Engagement Ring Rookie Here

Hello,

I have been on the hunt for an engagement ring for the last couple of months. I have tried my best to educate myself on the 4'C's, and other facts of diamond engagement rings.

I'm not sure if this is a diamond "faux pas" here, but the engagement ring I really like is at Costco. Because of this, I don't exactly find their "jewelery person" to be the end-all be-all of my engagement ring hunt, but I really like this ring, and I think it's a fair price. They have it priced at $16,000, which is well within budget. Keep in mind as well, I am in Canada, so unfortunately these types of items are a little more expensive than the US.

I have attached a picture of the ring, along with PDF of the IGI form that I was given from Costco. My question is, is this a fair price, and is this a diamond that my future wife (knock on wood :twirl: ) will be happy with? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Regards
Marshall

Looks like the pavilion is on the deep side in the IGI picture.

IGI isn't one of the reliable grading labs, so I just wouldn't consider it since you could really be overpaying not knowing the true specs.

I'll second looking at other vendors who offer GIA or AGS grading and ideal/excellent cut stones with pictures. WhiteFlash and James Allen have been mentioned, and I'd add Good Old Gold to that as well.

DS,

The IGI cert refers to GIA report 1136505186... ("GRADED PRIOR TO MOUNTING. BASED ON GIA REPORT# 1136505186")

Thanks, Liz!!! I totally missed that little (important) detail! So I guess IGI had no choice than to list the same color and clarity which is great for the buyer.

I'll say in that case that this ring is fairly priced and okay to buy.

Would she like the setting? It's not all about the diamond, y'know...
