Engagement ring resize question

Before I got my E-ring from Whiteflash, I went to several local stores to look at settings and got my ring finger measured. They all told me I’m a size 5, so the ring from Whiteflash came in size 5.

It fit perfectly when I first got it, not too tight not too lose. But as the weather gets warmer, my fingers start to swell. My ring is too tight now. I’m thinking about sending my ring back for resizing. However I can’t decide if I want to resize it to 5.25 or 5.5. Is 1/4 size up sufficient to accommodate swelling finger? I’m worried if I get 5.5, it will be too lose in the winter months.

5.25 should be fine, and still be good in winter. I’m a size 5.5, and I wear a size 6...however, I stack my rings, and I find stacking is more uncomfortable in summer at 5.5/5.75 than at a 6, so I deal with the spinning in winter. I wear my 5.5/5.75 sized rings on my RH, alone. ;)2

For me, my fingers swell a lot too. I went through something similar and the SA told me I only needed a quarter size up. She said it would be too big with a half size. Well... when I picked it up it was good. After a few days of hot weather and too much sodium, my ring got tight again. So I went back and sized up a half size. There are days when my ring is a bit loose but I prefer a looser ring than a tight one. For me, I want my ring to fit at all times and not annoy me. Plus... aesthetically, I think tight rings make a person’s finger look fatter.

Standard sizing increments at the half size and I think that allows for finger fluctuations.

Just my two cents on what happened to me. Hope this helps.

My ring is a 1/2 size "too big" to deal with swelling. I hate tight rings. I can always add a band to make them fit tighter when its cold. You can also have sizing bars added.

I'd try 5.5 for now. If you end up stacking rings with the e-ring you'll need the extra room in the winter.

Also, if it's still too loose wth a stack in the winter, you could add sizing beads.

I lost my ering on May 18th. I was a 5.5 but after losing some weight my ring size dropped to a 4.75. The ring was way to big on me and I have no clue where it could of fell off, but it did. I was absolutely distraught. Thank goodness I have insurance and am in the process of getting a replacement. I rather my ring fit correctly most days than too big on some days, now. I will never wear a ring that’s too big ever again. Don’t want to scare anyone but I hope I never have to go through that experience again (or for anyone else for that matter!)

If you aren’t wearing a wedding band yet, I’d say a half size up. I have my rings a half size too big to accommodate swelling. They spin in the winter, but I can deal with that better than a tight ring. When my rings are tight, I feel like I am suffocating. Dramatic. I know.
