Engagement Ring Purchase. How did I do?

Hi All,

As you may know from a previous post I was beginning the process of buying an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I took your advice and went with I.D. Jewelry in the diamond district.

All in all it was a very good experience. They were very welcoming and patient with me. I went in with a list of everything the ring had to be and they helped me step by step. I mainly worked with Yekutiel. He worked hard to find me the perfect stone. It was very appreciated. Unfortunately no pictures yet as the ring has to be custom made.

From the research I’ve done I’d say it was a fair price. Either way I’m happy with it and it was within my budget. With that said I will lay out the ring criteria below. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

-5.05 Carat
-Modern cut

-Trilogy setting
-Side diamonds (30 point pears)

Just one question I forgot to ask. When people ask the carat size of the ring - are the side stones and tiny paver diamonds on the setting counted in that? So the main stone being 5.05. The side stones being 30 points each. Pavers being some points. I guess it’s nearly a 6 carat ring?

If there is a mention of Total Weight or TW - then the 5.05ct would include the center and side stones.
There are 85 stones on the Pricescope site from competing vendors starting at $1500.

When people ask how big is that they usually mean just the main stone...5.05. You could add that the total
carat weight of the ring is 5.05 + whatever the additional sides are.

Without pictures we cant really tell you how you did!

Hi All,

The ring is finished. I will be picking it up Tuesday. Here are some pictures. The main stone is 5.05 Carats the whole ring is 5.87 carats. GIA certified.
