Engagement Ring Help

This was my wifes dream ring when we were shoping... its a Tacori platinum diamond engagement ring containing one round brilliant cut diamond graded as F/SI2/0.82 ct. The setting contains 10 channel set princess cut diamonds and 10 round brilliant cut diamonds graded as FG/VS2SI1/0.45. All GIA cert. She loved it so much we got it. Now we find out she has a platinum related allergy so we are not sure what to do... I am new to this site and will do some reading to find advice for what to do but I found this topic and wanted to show off the ring!

Oh no! That is awful. I have never heard of a platinum allergy. How dissapointing. I unfortunately don''t have any advice, BUT did want to say the ring is gorgeous! You and your wife have great taste.

Have you cleaned the ring thoroughly?

I only ask because I have a friend who''s g/f''s platinum ring irritates her, and makes her finger so itchy she can''t wear her ring - it turns out that it was just very dirty, and hadn''t been cleaned since he proposed, and all is well now.

went through 6 months of pain and suffering, ring cleanings of all types... her dermatologist said unfortunatly its the ring

needless to say I was quite upset

My Grandmother had a yellow gold setting before platinum became popular again...so she had her original gold setting mounted inside of her new one. There is a thin lining of gold...you cannot see it unless you look under her finger carefully. Maybe that would work. I like the setting though.
