Im a young guy (22) in search of that perfect ring. And i dont know much at all, but i certainly dont want to get taken advantage of. I found one that fits her wishes..

Metal: Gold, White
Clarity: SI3 EYE CLEAN
Shape: Square, Princess
Color: G
Carat: 1.17 carats
Certification/Grading: UGL
Size: 7.25
Condition: New

I can post a picture if need be, i was wondering how much that would be worth??

sure, post the pic. and the name of the ebayer.

just don''t be confused between UGL and EGL. UGL is not EGL.

Do you have a link i could read the difference on?

Or can you explain it quickly?

The name of the ebayer is bbk33, who has 139 feedback. 99.3 percent positive.

The picture of the ring..

The appraisal

can''t comment on the clarity or color. note the stone is rectangular. some like that look others don''t.

appraisal isn''t a good gauge of anything really so essentially it''s without certificate.

Clarity enhanced. Rectangular.

No way you're going to get a nice 1 ct for 1.5K, (more like .5-.7 ct) but if size is what she wants, make the lady happy.

EGLUSA is a recognized Diamond Lab on a global scale, UGL is a smaller level lab on 47th street.

good point

Im glad i came here because i really dont know anything about diamonds. I thought this seemed a little fishy being cheap. Am i safe to assume this is a very low quality of diamond?

yes :-)

So is EGL better than NGL/IGS?

Sorry for all the questions, im very new at this.

I personally prefer to stick with GIA, AGS, or EGLUSA. Others (and probably alot of pricescopers) don''t like EGLUSA either because they have a reputation of being softer on grading than GIA or AGS adn they just stick with GIA or AGS. If you''re buying from someone trustworthy they''ll alwasy match the price to the quality regardless of what the cetifcate says, if you need outside party affirmation i''d say get from one of the more accepted grading labs.

yes, just know that EGL tends to be a bit softer on grading than AGS or GIA.

There are some small boutique labs that turn out good work.

I know a good appraisal when I see one.

also you should know-- there is EGLUSA and EGL of other countries (Belgium, Israel, Europe). EGLUSA is the one I would stand by as far as grading accuracy. the others are too soft for my liking
