Good afternoon PriceScope,

I have been lurking for a year now, learning all I can regarding engagement rings. I am seeking your assistance in choosing a diamond and band.

Requirements:
1) Order from Whiteflash

2) Diamond:
- Round
- Color - no worse than G
- Clarity - as long as there are no visible defects (possible SI2?)
- Cut - Ideal
- Carat - at least 1ct

3) Band:
- Small pave diamonds
- One Diamond
- Can't sit too high
- 4 Prong

4) Price
- Diamond+Band+PriceScope Discount = $10k (not firm, but ideal)

Here is what I have found:
Diamonds:
1.071 ct F SI2 A CUT ABOVE® Hearts and Arrows Super Ideal Round Cut Loose Diamond - $8073
1.011 ct G SI1 A CUT ABOVE® Hearts and Arrows Super Ideal Round Cut Loose Diamond - $8558
1.031 ct E SI1 Expert Selection Round Cut Loose Diamond - $9117

Band:
Platinum "Legato Sleek Line Pave" Diamond Engagement Ring - $1818.75

Please let me know what additional information you need.

Any comments/assistance/recommendations you could provide would greatly be appreciated.

Haha, it looks like you've learned enough so that you don't need any help! Those are all great choices. I like the first one, F SI2, best. The magnified images look clean to me (I can't see any inclusions, even though I'm looking for them), so I would be incredibly surprised if it wasn't eye-clean, and F is still colorless, so there's no real reason to pay a thousand more dollars to get an E. I also like that setting - if you're looking for one that doesn't sit too high, that fits the bill, and the way the shank comes up to meet the basket makes it seem lower. I was looking for something that didn't sit too high for my own e-ring, and the shank coming up to meet the basket makes a HUGE difference in the way you interpret the height - it turns out I wasn't actually looking for "low-set" but instead for "not sticky-outy" (as I say, quite eloquently).

If you go with any of those diamonds and that setting, you will have a GORGEOUS ring.

Very good selection...I would probably go with the G but I think I would ask WF to compare/contrast the SI1 and SI2 stone.
Ask if they are both eye-clean.

Only concern is eyeclean-ness.

Wow you all are quick!

"not sticky-outy" - yes, thats what my girlfriend calls it too!

Thanks for the advice everybody. It seems like I can't go wrong with any stone.

Any other opinions regarding the band? It's always one that has stuck out to me as being very nice.

Also, if you have any other opinions regarding the diamonds, I would love to hear them.

Thanks again!

That band is very nice. Its feminine but still sturdy enough to not have to worry about too much.

Ah yes that was one other requirement, a skinny band.
