Hi Everyone! I recently joined the forum and I already feel like I've learned so much from your wisdom. I'm currently searching for a diamond for an engagement ring. I'm looking to get good value: eye-clean and mostly colorless. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts or suggestions on a rock with these specs:

Shape: Round
Carat: 1.35 to 1.5
Cut: Ideal or Very Good
Color: I
Clarity: SI1 or SI2
Setting: Solitaire in a classic setting, platinum band
Budget: $8,000 to $9,000 (just for the diamond)

I've been looking mostly at James Allen since they have actual ring photos. Such as these two:
#1) http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI1-Very-Good-Cut-Round-Diamond-1549553.asp
#2) http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI2-Excellent-Cut-Round-Diamond-1531336.asp

Do you have any feedback about these diamonds? Or do you have a suggestion for a better diamond on James Allen?

Thank you!

Are you working with anyone from James Allen ?
If you're not I can send you contact information of the lady I worked with. She was fantastic and if you give her your specs she'll find several stones within your spec and send you suggestions.

You can then run those suggestions here for PS opinion. Also if you're in NYC you can reserve 3 diamonds to see at their NYC office.

Oh that's a great suggestion. I'll follow that process.

Can you send me her contact information? I'll reach out to her and set up a time to view some rings in the city.

Thanks for your help isekii! I'll follow up with some final options and post an update for people's second opinions.

The I SI2 stone was too deep and faced up smaller than a 1.5 ct stone should. Stick with excellent cut only.

Wow that is a beautiful diamond, and I'll plan to see it. Thanks 04diamond<3!

I am open to a J color diamond, but I'm still leaning towards the I. Are there any I color diamonds that you would suggest with my specs? I could stretch my budget to $9,500 for the right rock...

This one could be a good deal. I'd check and make sure that inclusion is prongable.

Thanks for all of your help everyone! isekii I called earlier and found that Angie's not available for the weekend. I might try again to reach her during the week...

04diamond<3 thank you for the excellent suggestions. I've narrowed it down to two of the rocks you mentioned, and two others. I'm going to create a new post to seek people's opinions on the best choice. And I'll finalize my purchase this week!
