Engaged Last Night! Ring Problem?

My diamond is shallow rather than deep, and it scores 1.8 on the HCA. It also turns dark in direct sunlight or night time bar lighting. My favorite lighting for viewing diamonds is indirect (like overcast) natural light.

Do get a UV flashlight. With strong blue fluorescence, your diamond may also fluoresce (glow in the dark after the flashlight has been turned off) orange. It's really fun to play with!

Congratulations on your engagement.

Congrats on your engagement! Enjoy your ring!

I am by no means a diamond expert; however, you've received some great advice from the many helpful and experienced folks here on PS. I just love beautiful diamonds and FWIW, I think your diamond and your ring are gorgeous. I went through a very costly learning process when searching for an OEC diamond for a custom ring I had made. Diamonds can and do make a difference in a setting (and vice versa). To quote one of the diamond brokers from this site, who I deeply respect, I was told "Not all diamonds are right for all settings." With that said, one can get crazy trying to match all the perfect criteria to their budget, etc. Congratulations. Your ring is very special.
