Enerchi's spring NYC DBL visit- part 2!

One of the things I've learned is that imposing one's taste on another person will not always produce results as expected.
Like when we get really excited about something, and show a friend who has a ho hum reaction.

One of the things I'm very proud of the fact we offer a competitively priced cast line, as well as a hand forged line- which is a more costly manufacturing method..
The cast line is heavier, more metal showing ( yikes, who'd want that??)

Well, some people prefer that over a minimalist look- and do so big time.

The look of the bezel ring in question is not for everyone- but there are people are wearing this type of bezel now, with great satisfaction.
Our photos look a lot like Enerchi's...so folks pick this based on their own personal taste.

HI:

Fun day out! :appl:

cheers--Sharon

HI Everyone!
Can I just say how much fun Enerchi is?
OMG- and DH-- is the definition of D ( dedicated) he has the patience of Job.......

Only thing is there was a truck driver here, and he was blushing over the language... :naughty:

About bezels......we have a style shown in this thread that has a rather...."blobby" style of bezel. Photos 5503, 5504, and 5505
It's actually a popular semi mount.
Part of the design is this "blobby" look.
Generally speaking, people who order based on the photos have been satisfied- and in rare cases where they were not, they've been refunded. But we've never had any problems whatsoever with this style.
We also offer much trimmer bezel styles as well. Some of which Enerchi's super patient DH photographed yesterday

Really????? C.mon, now, there might be some people with less than detailed eyes to not catch how unrefined that bezel is but I'm pretty sure that many will not want the design element of their square/rectangular type diamond to be "blobby!"

I actually really like that bezeled ring. I'm an old soul and have always loved Edwardian/Art Deco/Art nouveau styles best for me. So I wouldn't have this for my ering. But my mother - an interior designer with awesome, adventuresome taste - would probably love it. And I'd go crazy over a nicely saturated 3 carat yellow sapphire cushion in that setting for a RHR. Mmmmm...

For me the organic, earthy, modern feel of the design pairs best with chunky nonlinear faceting. I think a wonky OMC would be so cool in that bezel. Personally I wouldn't put a step cut in this style because I'd want a bezel with crisp lines to echo the stone's shape. But I'm not surprised at all that this is a popular style for DBL!

ETA: just looked at the pictures again. Looks like the diamond dove into a pool of liquid gold. Love it!

I really like the yellow and brown and "off color" OMC-style cuts, they are really gorgeous.

If you love bezels with crisp lines, I just don't see how you would like that bezel. I think that bezel has everything I don't like about a bezel. Wonky lines that take away from the beauty of the diamond lines. The diamond must have really dove into that pool because it is now drowning in the pool of liquid gold. Of course, this is just personal preference. I love a nicely made bezel that accents the shape of a stone but to me .. that one is not it.

I am not trying to be rude. She stated she likes crisp lines and that bezel doesn't have crisp lines to my eyes. As DBL stated, "there are people are wearing this type of bezel now, with great satisfaction." To each their own but my opinion is that the photo of the bezel ring does not show crisp lines and this is not the first example. It's simply that "blobby" style which DBL is going for with that ring.

I also find it a bit odd that DBL first said there are rare cases where a customer is not happy with the style and in the very next sentence said he never had any problems. Seems contradictory to me.

Enerchi - My comments are no way reflected on you at all. I loved looking at all the photos and you sharing the photos. The goodies are worth oogling and I like the opportunity to assess workmanship close up. The photos are awesome. I can't wait until I see your other vendor pics.

Charmy, this is like that old joke, I drink, I get drunk, I fall down- no problem!

Seriously- it's a different matter "having problems with a style" and an occasional return.

I'd also add it's an exceptionally difficult style for me to photograph.
In general bezels present unique challenges of photography.
A lot of reflective metal makes things that may not be imperfections look like they are.

David - I am not questioning your bezel. It's the style you are going for and I am perfectly fine with that. You make rings to suit a wide range of customer preferences.

Another fun filled day of touristy things in NYC!! Did the Staten Island ferry , saw the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, the "bull", did the. 9/11 memorial and got very emotional standing at the two pools of water..., went to Brooklyn, more of Fifth avenue, FAO Schwartz, ate at a diner, sat at Times Square, tortured ourselves by going into Forever 21 for our DD, now sitting down and completely exhausted!! we did get to do a MAN THING for DH by going to the Apple store (were there was free wifi!) and now have the right tool for downloading pics from the new camera. I'll start another thread for the IDJ bands Rubies R Me tried on with us!

But thank you all for your comments!
Catmom - this IS a great trip for bling browsing!! I could spend a whole day trying on diamonds but only 50% of the married people I'm traveling with, find that kind if activity interesting... Go figure!

Rosie R - I loved that first 3 stone too! And all the other 3 stones too... And the halos.... And the solitaire... I'm hopeless..!

Rosebloom- "diamond museums". Good one!! And yes, I know what you mean about the liquid gold effect - truly the pics do not do the ring justice. I think it's so shiny that it distorts the metal work... But IRL, gorgeous! :praise:

Ame - total treasure trove!!its like what I want my heaven to look like-paved with diamonds!

Stargurl78- I loved that pink halo too! It will probably be snapped up quickly then I can't fantasize about owning it one day...., :((

Anners11--- get it! By it! Love it!! There is no such thing as TOO BLINGY!!! You are on PS -that kind of thinking is not allowed! :Up_to_something: Get that gorgeous 3 stone with the half moons-it was AWESOME!!!

Laila- it is so hard to narrow down which ones I wanted to play with- I could happily try on the whole website!! :D

Two little birds - yes I used my iPhone with the ollo clip and had it charging at the same time....I was burning thru battery power as we clicked away. Good thing David had a charger or I would have been able to only post about 5 pics!

Backwardsandinheels- yes, my dear sweet DH got to do man things today!!that was funny!! Apple store and a few other place helped to compensate for my diamond time. :praise: He's sooooo patient!! My hero :praise:

Derby gal- oh I hear ya!! I'm also lusting after a few on the site too! I have such little self control but its tempered by a little saving account!! Lol

Canuck- gal- BEST.DAY.EVER!! I love my diamond district moment! It's so far removed from my real world.... Is like being transported to another dimension!! He to pick up a repair tomorrow....I could succumb to the siren song of another sparkle or two.... ;))

MayK- good job enabling me!! "a" for effort!! You've done we'll at the foot of the master, grasshopper!!

Dreamer - the new/ old cuts really are beautiful! It's so nice to hear you say you like them too - woo hoo!!

Im glad that i could share my iPhone pics w PS, so others could enjoy along with me.

I guess it's just like Kenny says, people vary ;))

No worries, Charmypoo. I love bezels. Lurve them!!!! I like them straight and organic. Thin and chunky. Milgrained and smooth. Platinum and gold. I guess I have bezel ADD!

To die for... The first two rings I believe are my favourites. That gorgeous cushion three stone and the detailed delicate halo. It looks suspiciously and positively Singlestone-esque!

Thank you for the trip report, Enerchi - this is PSphotojournalism at its best! :wink2:

BTW here's a big shout-out to your patient hubby - :wavey: Whoot! Whoot!

You have no idea how much fun I got from doing these threads!! I have to head back today for a repair pick up, so if I can get a beer or two into DH, I just might get more pics taken to share later!! Woo hoo!! (Not that I have any evil pre planned ulterior motives to a stroll in NYC... :Up_to_something: )

She said she likes a crisper bezel on a step cut. And that a different cut style would look better in a "pool of gold" style bezel such as shown. What was all the need for all the extra talk on this? It really didn't need all the extra drama that became of it.

Gorgeous pieces and fantastic pics Enerchi! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your trip to DBL, so much fun! I love the first 3 rings, and I've had my eyeballs on that yellow pear halo, so pretty
