Seeking the collective wisdom of this forum that has so far helped me pick the perfect engagement ring and 3yr anniversary earrings. 5 years is coming up.

My wife has always mentioned how much she loves emeralds and the other day she dropped a hint about looking into some emerald studs. She's sick on the couch right now so no better time for me to sneak some research in on Pricescope!

I'm looking for a matching pair for earrings. I'm not sure which cut to narrow it down to but likely the emerald cut or a different cut than round as both her diamond ring and earrings are both round cut. The only guidance I have from her is that she cares less about pure quality and would prefer something a bit larger. I'm all for it as the budget allows but also don't want the weight to be too much to where her petite ears can't hold up the stones properly. I also tend to prefer to buy her smaller stones at higher quality.

I reviewed the reputable vendor list and I have only been able to find a couple of options and could use the help of you all to find other pairs that might be worth a look from trusted dealers. I'll set my budget at $4-$5k now and have no problem coming down from there as needed. :) I know she prefers deeper green over blue, light or yellow greens.

I've read mixed reviews on Embassy Emeralds but they seem favorable overall:

I know these are not Columbian but since a perception of highest quality is not needed these seem unique and interesting although I would be likely after something other than studs with this shape.

Thank you for any advice on those listed above or suggestions on additional online stores or specific pairs. As always, your guidance is much appreciated!

I love the Multicolour stones! I think the shape is awesome for a pair of earrings. Don't get me wrong; I love emerald cuts but if it were me, that's what I'd do because I love dangly earrings. If your GF really prefers studs, then never mind, but I would definitely try to negotiate on price though, no matter which pair you pick. Did you try to search out round emeralds? Let us know which you end up going with!!

I agree that the shape of the MC ones ate good for dangly earrings .

Thanks so much to you both! I was leaning the same way - "the dangly ones" but just got another strong hint. On a walk the other day she mentioned colored stones again and said she believes she likes emeralds the most and for sure wanted studs. I even mentioned something about the possibility of dangly earrings and she again mentioned studs so studs it is!

I've read buying advice for Emeralds but are there any other options out there that I haven't listed where you all have seen some matching pairs? Also, any advice on where to get them set or would I be just as well off buying the stones online and bringing them to a trusted jeweler in Atlanta to get them mounted on studs?

Thanks!
Scott

Many thanks and appreciation to you all again! It's been some time since I replied since my wife has been going back and forth between a new wedding band and a pair of earrings. It seems she is currently in favor a the wedding band but I still like the idea of emerald earrings so want to Myresearching. If not now, I'm sure she would appreciate them soon!

I've been in touch with Garrett over at Emerald Earrings and he has been quite helpful. I am now also considering these:

My main question to you all is this - are rectangular studs odd? Do they spin and look odd when not straight up and down? I know they would look nice in something dangly but not sure that's her style as much as a classic looking stud.

Also, how might I go about finding someone in my areas (Atlanta) who is reputable when it comes to dealing with settings for Emeralds? I know of a good jewelry store and they are very creative and work with less expensive stones usually so not sure they would be the right fit for something this unique

Thanks for any thoughts!

scoseg: fwiw, your link takes you to the site, but it just says "item not found."

I do prefer a longer cut for a french wires or leverbacks look.

For studs if you are concerned about movement, I would look for an emerald cut more on the squarer side. Every earring varies how much they move around (some don't move around that much and others do, don't ask me why), but if they are more on the square side it is less noticeable. Also if the earring is heavier is less likely to move.

I find that rectangular studs tend to spin; basically anything that isn't round or square will not stay lined upright on the ears.
