Emerald cut with trapezoids

So I just received my upgrade diamond... 3.01 Emerald cut. It's beautiful! Now I need to set it. I LOVE trapezoids for the sides. Any suggestions on where to go for a setting besides local jewelers? Also, suggestions on color of side diamonds and size? My stone is an I, GIA. does have some warmth so I need to be very careful when setting it. I think I'm extra sensitive because it is an I!

He may not have the best reputation for niceness but Leon Mege is known for picking out perfect sidestones. I would also assume you're going for step cut traps which aren't the most readily available but worth it IMO for an emerald, esp 3cts! Other high end designers are Steven Kirsch and Victor Canera. If you want high end but don't mind it being CAD work there's also ERD, they do beautiful work which we've seen on here many times. In your case most of the budget will be the traps so I would email/call all of them for quotes and see who you like best.

I just had my 3 carat emerald cut reset with traps.the stone is 9.86 x 7.30 J IF the traps are are .75 tcw H-I VS2-SI1. it is a Joshua J setting in platinum. a jeweler in a town near me ordered the setting and set the stone for me. I didn't want to send my diamond off to be reset so this worked out great for me. I love it now that it is finished!!

Kellydean... Love your ring! Diamond is almost exactly what I have! Does the J bother you? I'm so self conscious about my I. I compared it to a friend's princess and it was not nearly as white. I know step cuts are not though. Also, do you mind me asking the cost? I found some traps on Israel Diamonds for 2800... Then I have to figure the labor and setting.

Thank you assher halo lover! Wonderful info! I would LOVE a Leon setting but just have a feeling it is way out of budget. My husband is done and the diamond was way out of our budget. I will email him though to just see.

Actually, the J color of my diamond never bothered me. Then, when I wanted to reset it, I was concerned with what color the side stones should be. As my husband was uncomfortable sending the stone off to be set, I went to a jeweler who ordered the setting from Joshua J who built the ring from the stats of my diamond. the color of the traps are GREAT with it and I see no color difference. The size of the traps are great too. I got quotes from Leon and Victor Canera but as I couldn't send the stone off this was the only way I could do it and I have to say not the cheapest way. in the end I LOVE the way it turned out and I am happy happy happy!! I don't have any friends with D color diamond tho!

Thank you for the info... I think I'm just extra sensitive about the I because so many posters say not to go below an H in emeralds. Mine definitely picks up the surrounding color but is ice white in natural day light!
