Hello there,

I've decided on which ring to get... But I need your expert opinion.

I've picked the setting: https://www.jamesallen.com/mobile/e...ond-engagement-ring-cushion-center-item-17449

And now it's time to pick the diamond. I've looked at dimensions and what not, but I'm no diamond expert. I'm not sure if I'm picking the right ones. My budget is roughly $7,000 with whatever emerald cut I can get the most buck out of.

If you can please give any suggestions I will really, really appreciate it.

Cheers!

What is the order of your priorities with regards to colour, carat and clarity?

Has the intended recipient definitely expressed a preference for an EC?

Is that 7k USD or HKD or CAD or AUD? If one of the latter three, is that 7k including or excluding shipping or taxes?

Sorry should have been more clear. $7,000 USD. And yes, after looking around, she decided she wanted an emerald cut.

Priority would be the cut has to be at least 1 carat or over, then color, then clarity.

Sorry, additional question - have you and the intended recipient looked at the different colour grades available, to work out your 'limit' in terms of colour/tint?

Yes, preferably she wants to stay in the DEF, but can go down to G or H if the other C's make up for it.

I can't look now because I need to do some work  but there are plenty of prosumers with skills at picking ECs on the forum, so hopefully they will chime in once they are up :) (It's still early morning in the USA, which is where the majority of forum members are from!)

Do have a look at James Allen to see if any jump out at you - that will help us understand what you prefer :) (ECs can be cut differently so there are degrees of 'taste' in the cut.)

Beyond the 4 c's this is what I look for
- must light up all the way into the center
- Not too many facets off (black) at the same time
- consistent size steps (I prefer med or small)
- dont like two steps side by side flashing at the same time (because then it just looks like one big step)

I've looked through JA in the G-D range and am having a hard time finding anything that just jumps out at me. Here are ones that I thought looked
the nicest but let me look at some other vendors.

Thank you so much for taking the time. I'm set with JA they have the setting I went for it. I think I'm down to these two:

What are your thoughts? I don't mind going a bit over the budget if there's something great. I really want to do this right the first time =)2

I like the 1.2 g vs1the best out of those for it patterns and style.

Hey you guys. I decided to purchase the 1.24 G diamond and noticed that they posted it in the ring settings. I'm getting a bit concerned though it looks like the diamond has too much "black" am I just being paranoid? Screenshot_20180224-073635.png

The black is simply reflection off the camera taking the picture. Its exacerbated by the lighting used to take the pics.

Phew, thank you. I discovered it by fluke looking through matching wedding rings :lol-2:
