Hi Everyone,

I've been reading this forum for a few weeks trying to soak up as much information as possible. I think I've got the technical side down pretty well, but at this point I'm really just looking for some solid feedback from a few people who know what they're looking at. I've got a custom ring on order with BG Diamonds, using an emerald cut from their virtual inventory. My gf is set on an emerald, and the specs for the chosen stone are 1.41ct, H, VVS2 $7,629.00.

I've been a bit concerned from the beginning on the H part of this. I've been assured by the (awesome) staff at BG that the stone faces up very white and that it is very beautiful, but obviously I am still a bit on the nervous end here. I'm of the opinion you get one chance to do the engagement ring right, so I figure having as many opinions as possible before executing the final product can't hurt at all.

BG's staff has been wonderful in sending me images of the diamond, including a short video clip. I am going to attach all of the diamond images I have to this post including the ASET and IS images. I'd love to hear feedback, especially on the cut quality/performance and color of this stone. There is also a sample image in my post of the setting I sent to BG's design team for the custom aspect of this ring so that you can have a sense of the final setting which will be done in platinum.

Thanks in advance for all your feedback!

Here are the remaining attachments that wouldn't fit in the first post. I know this is all a bit neurotic, but again, I'm hoping to only do this once

Well, it looks pretty nice to me (not an emerald expert). I love that 5 stone setting you are having done! I would be fine with an
H...and it does look pretty white (IMO). Post pictures when it's done.

Thanks for your feedback tyty, I'll post up the CAD and the finished product once I've got it in hand.

Any other comments on the stone? I'd love to hear others thoughts...

Wow emerald stones (they are my favourite) do face up small hard to believe thats 1.4 nice idea to do 5 stone give far better coverage

EC looks good. Unlike rounds, it is very difficult to find that perfect or ideal EC but I think this one will be sparkly in person.

I adore the ring design you have chosen! I also visually like the length/width ratio of the stone. I am not an EC epert so I can't offer any advise on the technical aspects of the stone.

I can't wait to see the finished ring!

Thanks again for the feedback, it is helpful. BG has sent over the CAD work on my custom setting and I am just about to pull the trigger. Once the ring is started there is no going back or refunds so I'm posting the CAD's and checking for any last minute opinions before I go for it.

The two trapezoids are 0.59ctw and 5mm x 3.1mm, while the trilliants are .21ctw and 3.65mm x 3.7mm. The band itself will vary somewhere in the 2.3-2.7mm range depending on the finishing.

I really like it. I like how the side stones step down from the EC center and the ends also step down from the trillions. Love the details!
