Purchased this .75 carat diamond (stats TBD, weighed by DK) for a toi et moi, the more elongated cuts didn’t really appeal to me.
This one however did, would this be considered a vintage emerald cut? It’s chubbier than most I’ve encountered.
For reference it was extracted from another ring unsure of era as that style was popular throughout the ages.
The pawn shop sold it to me as a .45-.50 carat Diamond the appraisal estimated .65, so to my surprise it was bigger than all of the previous estimates.
I would love to hear any opinions, I’m new to emerald cuts so I just kinda went off what appealed next to the other stone.
Thanks for your time. :)

Do you have video or any ASET images you can share? I’m afraid this static photo does not provide enough to give you fair opinion about this EC.
Any additional info you can provide will assist us in helping you.

I apologize I do not, I don’t have it at the moment.
I guess I didn’t really do my research and went in blindly.
I appreciate your response, I apologize I was of no help. It won’t be until next month that I will have it back in my hands (hopefully). I can come back with stats as well.

That’s great! I’d love to give you more insight when you have the diamond!
If you asked me to judge by the above, static photo, I would advise you to hard pass. I would prefer to have more info before jumping to conclusions.

@Matthews1127
I appreciate your honesty, to be fair it isn’t the most flattering picture, it did look fairly deep IMO, but it is lively IRL.
Here is another shot, I was trying to choose between metals and these were the pictures I was sent, of the EC outside of the setting. Again, it probably doesn’t help much without any other information but it’s a tad bit more flattering. lol

Edit to add: I just realized I didn’t add the appraisal specs: .65 H VS2
But I took that like a grain of sand.

It’s a cute chunky stone. A moving video would be helpful for evaluation to be sure, but it looks quite reflective, which is a good start. My emerald has taught me that they absolutely need a daily scrubbing. They show every bit of dirt. Looking forward to more pictures.

Update:
The report came in, I decided to so a solitaire. LOL it deserves to shine alone.
The diamond received a fair cut grade but IMO it performs well in person.

D VVS2 is nice in an EC! You chose with your eyes and that is always best for fancies. Did you pay less than retail at the pawn shop?

Thank you! This was my first diamond purchase that’s not an oec/mine cut so I was nervous, but this one stood out.
It was in a horrible platinum setting that had its prongs redone and they were horrid and bulky, you couldn’t see that the corners were clipped.
It was there for over a year they kept dropping the price (platinum is cheap so that helped) this is probably my best bargains as fair as diamonds go.
I paid somewhere between 65-75 percent below retail for something like that in that color and clarity with fair-good cut.
