Hello, I have done a lot of reading and received great advice from @AV_ in a previous thread. Looking for long (~1.45+) emerald, setting will be simple solitaire in platinum. Please provide opinions on these stones and what ASETs to request from JA stone below.

@tyty333 , @diamondseeker2006 , @OoohShiny , @Matthews1127

We discussed:
A: https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD01027662 Beautiful, but out of my range.
B: https://www.b2cjewels.com/diamond-search/dd/12743960/Emerald-Diamond-D-Color-VVS2-Clarity (I think) great ASET, great size. Concern about haziness with strong blue and D color, but will have to contact b2c or Adiamor over the phone for this one. I wouldn't want to pass just because of the fluorescence but am a little unsure of the hard sell from either of those jewelers and buying unseen (not that I have a spectacular eye).

James Allen options at different price points: Some of the 20k stones look quite nice IMO.

I am not an EC expert but to my eyes, the b2c one is much more appealing than any of the JA options. For some reason I just don't love any of the JA ones. Of course the blue Nile one is great, but obviously budget needs to be taken into consideration.

Digresing - regarding translucency versus transparency (crystal) in videos (since the 'strong blue? D/VVS is still on your list), I am not finding step cut examples, but there are soft rounds demonstrating translucency with and without fluorescence WWW & WWW (SI2) - between FL-VS1 I do not expect to see anything on the screen; I am not a grader IRL either. Nb. the only clarity characteristic on the reports is a grade-setting 'cloud' - nothing else, indicating that the respective cloud is both extensive and dense enough to see.

I would certainly appreciate to hear what the GIA forma standard on these characteristics of grade-setting internal graining and clouds are for the other grades. (ps)

-

Then, the F/VVS2 is very bright if in a somewhat miror-like 'flat' way; I tend to like the look, but it is an acquired taste. The E/VVS1 is the opposite - steps light up in turn, delivering glitter; I am not sure how bright it would be. The lighting conditions in these shots seem odd to me - the diamonds are too ... un-reflective; they'd look like this upside-down (or immersed!).

2c

_______
ps. - these are spectacularly illuminated by strong fluorescence, but I have not seen any diamond yet, turning from crystal to translucent when fluorescence turns on; the faint blue wash borrown the crystal quality... I must have mentioned this curiosity elsewhere.

L/W 1.70 - E/VS2 WWW the shape stands out already, enough briliance
L/W 1.42 - E/VS1 WWW bold & bright

& a 20K wildcard WWW

I have tried to override my preferences for shapes & proportions off the beaten track, but it is not easy... The following is my choice: D/SI1 WWW

We discussed:
A: https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD01027662 Beautiful, but out of my range. While this is really beautiful, I feel like the steps down
in the center are cattywampus (not parallel with the outline of the stone). It may not matter in person because it may not really be detectable at normal viewing...but anywho, like you said...out of range.

I am liking this stone. You need to
find out about the Fluorescence.

1. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/emerald-cut/2.12-carat-d-color-vs1-clarity-sku-6517578 I dont know if its the photography or the
stone, but this stone looks very foggy under the table. The facets dont seem to be well-defined (outlined) and its just various indistinct
shades of gray under the table. Would definitely need an aset to try to figure out if its the stone or a bad focus on the video.

2. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/emerald-cut/2.02-carat-d-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-7054462 This stone doesnt look to bad. Its got a really
high ratio...not sure if thats what you are looking for.

3. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/emerald-cut/2.01-carat-e-color-vvs1-clarity-sku-7724572 I really like this stone also. Steps really seem to
be putting on a light show.

4. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/emerald-cut/2.08-carat-d-color-vs1-clarity-sku-7549324 The center of this stone is not doing much ...no
light show...steps under table dont seem to be lighting up like you would want to see. Facets outside of the table (around the pavilion of the stone ) look good though. I'd pass on this one.

5. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/emerald-cut/2.03-carat-f-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-4965781 This is a real blocky looking
stone with steps combining to light up or go dark at the same time. Not sure how I feel about this one. It's not traditional in my
book but could be a real sparkler IMO. Would want opinion from @Karl_K on this one to see what the downside is.

ALCON,
Thanks for the replies. I have attached the (bigger) ASET for diamond B, the 2.5 D with strong blue. Also attached is the GIA report. Adiamor, B2C and Blue nile have the same stone (blue nile for 3-4k more).

I have been told that this stone is very clear with no issues at all regarding haziness. This makes me very inclined to go this route. I spoke with the team at Adiamor on the west coast and they do seem to have a robust return policy.

I did inquire about the see through 'gray' facet, but it doesn't seem to me to be much of an issue. Any worries about the 'black' at the apex of the north south triangular facets?

Thoughts?
