Hello I''ve been looking for a 2.5 carat + round diamond i-j SI1 or SI2.

After seeing a few websites three seemed to offer the best prices( they also need to ship to switzerland) : Bluenile, Solomon brothers and Union diamond.

I''ve selected a few and asked them to be checked or to have a picture of them and meanwhile I would like to know if I should avoid any of these sellers? Also, the most competitive seems to be Union diamond but for the stones i selected they only have EGL unlike bluenile and solomon, should I be worried? does it explains slightly cheaper prices?

Thank you for you help

Yes, EGL labs are considered 2-3rd tier in color and clarity grading compared to AGS/GIA lab graded stones, these stones are usually discounted in trade as their color and clarity grades can be off by 2 grades, depending on which EGL unit graded the stones. EGL USA being the most consistent of the EGL labs.

We have bought 2 diamonds from Solomon Brothers working with Ron. One was a cushion 1 carat D, VS2 GIA certified and another was a round 1 carat H, VS2 EGL certified. Both diamonds were used for engagement rings, one for me and the other for my brother''s soon to be fiance. Both stones have been looked over by Ron before purchase and he''s done good by us. I would definitely recommend Solomon Brothers. As for the EGL diamond we got from SB, we got it independently appraised and it came back as an H. I was worried about EGL diamonds as well, but I guess we just got lucky. If you purchase from Union, see if you could get it appraised or send it straight to an appraiser. Look the diamond over and see if the color is what you''re comfortable with. Here''s a link to the two diamonds we got if you''d care to look. Also don''t mind the yellowy tint of the RB. It was reflecting the walls of my room.
