EC VS1 Inclusions

Hello everyone, hope you''re well!

I am looking at an emerald-cut with VS1 clarity. I have been sent the GIA report, with the plotting diagrams for inclusions.

The ''front'' / top-side diagram is totally free from inclusions.

The ''back''/ under-side diagram has several inclusions on the outer steps and a couple towards the middle (although not in the centre). These are 3 pinpoints, 1 feather and 1 natural. The pinpoints are towards the middle.

As it is an EC, I know the inclusions on the back of the diamond will reflect off the steps and may be visable in the front table.

However, as it is a VS1, should I expect to see any inclusions with my eye? (I want to be prepared!)

How large is the diamond? Is it online? VS1 should be eyeclean but in an EC there is a small chance it might not be so ask the vendor if they have physical access to the diamond if it is eyeclean to your standards, there is no way to tell if a diamond is eyeclean or not going by the clarity plot on the report.

I looked at many EC''s and it was eventually between an Evs1 and an Evs 2 (which i bought) and to this day i cant believe the vs1 was a 1 and the one I got was a 2. My VS2 has only pinpoints --nothing else--and is so clean I wonder why it wasnt a vvs2.

It is expected that an EC with a clarity rating of VS1 with GIA certification should be eye clean from an arm’s length away. In any case, I’d never buy a fancy cut sight unseen so when you get the chance to view it in person or look at the magnified picture from the vendor, if online, you’ll be able to verify that it is clean enough for you.
