These are the ones I recommend (IGNORE VENDOR CUT SCORE, it is meaningless):
https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/Emerald/GIA-Certified-2-02-Carat-G-Color-VS2-Clarity-Diamond-1G79KJ Personal favorite and I recommend highly and without reservations. It's an excellent EC.
Recommended with reservation that it has a P3 issue, though not a terrible one. So I would prefer to see a video as well to check out both the facets by the keel (P3) and the crown height. Ask if there is a chance they can provide this. I https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/Emerald/GIA-Certified-2-0-Carat-G-Color-VS2-Clarity-Diamond-5V9YED

WE HAVE LURKERS. So put anything you like and are considering on hold ASAP.

Thanks for the guidance.

I really like the way it looks, this is harder than I thought and glad I'm in no rush

I have a few questions
1. What makes the first one better than the one from James Allen, is it the cut, clarity, inclusions? Price is clearly better so that's awesome.
2. Also, I saw the pic what does the red and the greenish picture tell me?

While I'm asking for questions what about these three as comparison

Thanks again for all the help

I would recommend reaching out to a vendor, such as IDJewelry in NYC, to call in a few of the diamonds Gypsy and you picked out to check out in person on your behalf, provide an expert opinion, and create ASET and IS images for analysis.

1. Not a good performer. Dead facets.
2. Not eyeclean.
3. Not a good performer and an ASET will likely show too much blue.

Here's some information to start you off:

The entire purpose of faceting a diamond is to reflect light.
How well or how poorly a diamond does this determines how beautiful it is.
How well a diamond performs is determined by the angles and cutting. This is why we say cut is king. With fancies though (anything other than a round brilliant), that is a little complicated. But no other factor: not color, not clarity has as much of an impact on the appearance of a diamond as its cut.

There really is no other way to determine if you have a good EC is to see images of the stones, preferably a video, and then you need is a way to check actual light performance of your actual stone. You have to see the faceting and watch how the facets turn off and on, how they dance and reflect light.

An ASET image shows you how the stone is reflecting light. http://www.highperformancediamonds.com/index.php?page=education-performance Please read.
And ASET shows you how and where your diamond is reflecting light, how well it is going at it, and where you are losing light return That is why you won't see us recommending vendors like Blue Nile, as they do not provide images or ASET images for their diamonds. James Allen (only does it with a limit amount of stones, which is why we have been recommending them less and less), Enchanted Diamonds, and Good Old Gold do this. So do Brian Gavin and Whiteflash and High Performance Diamonds, but they don't keep stock of EC's around like the other vendors so they would have to call them in.

You can follow this thread if you like: Here's some information to start you off:

Or you can get an AGS0 cushions, but those are rare, and usually branded. . GIA does not grade their cushions for performance. Only AGS does. And any lab other than GIA or AGS is not worth considering at all.

Large ECs with great performance are hard to find. This one is a great stone, and will be snapped up. I recommend you put it on hold, again: https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/Emerald/GIA-Certified-2-02-Carat-G-Color-VS2-Clarity-Diamond-1G79KJ

If you are not ready to buy. I recommend you study this forum for ECs and then when you are ready to buy we can help you further. But unless you are ready to buy and actually act on the stones recommended, then studying the body of knowledge already on the forum right now is the best use of your, and our time.

Okay, well jitters are normal. It's a LOT of money. There is a great return policy there. You will be okay. I promise.

Just put the stone on hold while you get over the jitters. =) I didn't find anything as nice. And I really do mean it that 2 carat nice ECs are hard to find. Most of the time it takes people months to find a nice EC. So, the fact that there is one in your budget with great specs is something you need to respect and protect the stone while you study. Okay?

Call them. Don't just put it in your cart. They will hold it for you. Worst comes to worst you can put a deposit down or pay for it and ask them to hold on the shipping until you call them on Tuesday.

How are you planning on setting it?

My initial thought is to go down an unorthodox path, inside a poison ring to pop the Q and then go with her to find the fitting she likes the most.

But then again I do like the Tiffany's solesta style...

One step and a time I guess haha

I ADORE your idea! Not the poison ring part. But the proposing with a stone and going shopping for the setting! That's the best of both worlds. She gets a proposal and an unexpected surprise and she gets to give her input on the ring. Propose to her within the return period though just in case.

That said, she will not be able to wear the stone, and she'll be newly engaged. So, maybe it's worth it to spend $150 on a temp setting so she can wear it in the interim, until she finds the right setting.

Hi Gypsy

Spoke to Joshua from Enchanted and trying put a hold on that, he spoke to the actual diamond broker (for lack of better word), he swears it's eye clean and in the mean time finding another one for comparison sake...

If you come across another I'd love your input, have been doing my own search but trying to stay away from causing more confusion haha

Is it on hold for you? If it's eyeclean, go for it. Don't need anything else.

The facets at the keel aren't performing as well as I'd like. It's above average, but I'd want bright facets at the keel.

You have to act fast on a good 2 carat stone. That's what I was trying to convey to you earlier.

Yup agreed, thinking thru Friday and the weekend thru a monkey wrench.

I'm sure with the help of this forum I'll be able to find one, this time I'll be pouncing. Didn't realize these things are a hot commodity.

Thanks for the continued guidance.

We have a lot of lurkers who are looking for stones. They just don't register and post. Instead they pounce on recommended stones we post. Fancies especially are hard ones because they are much harder to shop for, and it is much rarer to find a really nice one. And at 2 carats and above, selection is even more limited. So instead of having 3 or 4 stones to recommend, we typically only have one that is worth buying. I'll look for you and see if there is anything I'd recommend following up on. :wavey:

You are in luck! https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/Emerald/GIA-Certified-2-07-Carat-F-Color-VVS2-Clarity-Diamond-TCHGLA Lovely stone!

This one is also promising, but the facets right at the keel aren't reflecting light from the ASET. Probably a result of the cutter wanting to hit the 2 carat mark, since cutting that step to light performance would have meant it came in under the 2 carat mark. The facet may flash when the stone moves though, but there is no video so I can check that. But I thought I'd post it since it's very budget friendly: https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/Emerald/GIA-Certified-2-0-Carat-G-Color-VS2-Clarity-Diamond-5V9YED
