EC on hold for pendant stone-Can I get some feedback please

Hi Everyone I've decided to hunt for a pendant stone. I have considering everything from a AVC in just under .50, a Brellia cushion around .50 and an MRB. But my first love is step-cuts. I found this EC on JA and put it on hold. I don't mind the K color and it faces up larger than the other options in the price range. Thanks for the feedback MayK! Your new ring is so beautiful, I would love to see it in person EC's and Asschers just speak to me, ya know? I have spent hours on here enjoying everyones beautiful diamonds but my eye is just completely drawn to those cuts.

So if I do a pendant with this stone, will I look too matchy? Should I have it set E-W? My style leans toward modern pieces & Bezels. Should I have this set in prongs N-S? Maybe just keep it simple.

My ering diamond is 1.11ct with dimensions of 6.24 x 5.71. This diamond is 6.33 x 4.22. Nice face-up size for a pendant I think.

Any other suggestions or feedback is welcome

I like the elongated shape and the pattern. It shows a black band in the straight on shot, but that type of obstruction might be less important when you are thinking of a pendant. For a pendant, I think overall broad flash and shape are most important.

I like the elongated shape and the pattern. It shows a black band in the straight on shot, but that type of obstruction might be less important when you are thinking of a pendant. For a pendant, I think overall broad flash and shape are most important.

Dreamer-By obstruction do you mean directly in the center where the culet would be if it had one? Or are you seeing something else? I'm trying to understand what to look for or avoid. Thanks!

I'm so intrigued by this project... I could see my WF MRB J .80 pendant seeing the Pre-loved thread if it turns out super fabulous.. Which I have no doubt!...

OMG-I found another one & it's so cool!!! Not to jump off the K bandwagon, you all know I love my K EC, but this little puppy is a D!
It was hidden away under radiant cut diamonds and the shape is the bomb! It's a cut cornered rectangular step cut on the GIA cert.

Which diamond do you like Rosebloom? I really liked the K for it's face-up size. Then I found the cool D and have spent the last two hours reading every thread on Cut Cornered Rectangular Step Cuts. I'm obsessing over the D. Can't believe I found it!

Thanks for looking at my options Julie! I'm so enamored by the D that I've almost ruled out the K entirely. Kind of think it's extra special cut wise. I'm requesting ASET & reveiw today, hope I'm right!

I love the shape of the K so much! I really like the wide cut corners on the D but wish that the stone is a little more elongated. That's just my preference though. Overall, I prefer the K. Good luck with your project!

Thanks for the feedback lunemo. The K is very elegant and traditional I think. It would be perfect for a pendant. The D is just so interesting though. I guess I'll see what the ASET results are.

Just a small typo correction you typed leakage when you meant obstruction.
I have a feeling both would be fine in a pendant and maybe in a ring need ASET to verify under controlled obstruction conditions to see how bad it is.

The bowtie/band is worse in these vids than it is under ASET, I suspect. Someone else posted an asscher that was much darker than these but showed no blue under ASET.

Chrono-Thanks for taking the time to do a visual graph for me. I do see & understand what you're pointing out. I'm not completely sold on the K so if it turns out iffy in the ASET, I'll pass on it. I'm hoping the other turns out great though.

Thank you Karl. I'll post the ASET when received. I don't want to overpay if either should be priced lower due to obstruction. Look forward to your feedback when ASET is here.

Julie I can say that I don't feel the videos/new pictures are the best visual tool for step cuts. Before JA changed their site most of the step cuts looked much better. Now very few are appealing. Not sure if it's really the inventory selection or that the new site doesn't show them in a flattering light. I hope the ASET on the D turns out well. Thank you!
