Ebay diamonds

I would and have bought a diamond off eBay. Usually I'd want to get a feel for it based off the seller and the photos of the item. Return policies. Things like that.

This seems to be a lot more expensive than your last look. What are you looking for? Just fun? An e ring? What did you want to spend?

I have bought diamonds off ebay.

Things that I look for if you are a beginner or new to this:
-Is there a return policey
-Always pay under paypal so you have their protection.
-Take the diamond to an independant appraiser to make sure it matches the cert

Yes, I have bought diamonds on ebay. But even there you get what you pay for. Ask questions. Read feedback very carefully. And make sure that a generous return policy is offered.

Ebay is no more or less than an advertising venue. They don't sell diamonds, they sell advertising. The difference is important to remember because it means that you aren't doing business with ebay, you're doing business with someone who is advertising on ebay. They are not all the same and the critical step is not an evaluation of either the stone or even the price, it's an evaluation of the SELLER.

This is great advice and a great way to look at any purchase on ebay!

Have bought several and love ebay. Nowadays it actually offers pretty good buyer protection if the item you buy is not as described or if there are some issues between you and the seller. As others have said, always pay through Paypal (this keeps you under the ebay buyer protection umbrella) and evaluate the seller you're buying from (check feedback, send a message to see how well he/she communicates, check return policies, etc). Good luck, it can be quite fun!

Correction: Always pay by credit card through PayPal. Not bank account. Gives you the option of doing a reversal if things really go sour.

Old thread so don't think the OP is around. But another one for buying diamonds off ebay - great experiences and great prices as long as you know what you are doing.
