Earrings that sit well in jackets

Hi, friends! I’m close to ordering diamond studs, and I know I’ll want jackets in the future. Is there a setting that would sit especially well in jackets? I.e, protrude least when seen from the side, and minimal gap when seen top-down?

I don’t want martini-set studs, but I suspect that’s the best option. Is there a second best?

I would advise checking the photos of vendors that sell jackets and see the setting of the studs in the photos.

Thanks, DK! I’ve found it’s pretty uncommon for vendors to show profile shots. Brian Gavin does, and I do think the stud protrudes significantly. So, I’m hoping some experienced posters will share.

So partially it does depend on the jackets themselves but I find martini (literally the Stuller stock 3 prong martini) to be the hands down best option. I will take some photos and comparison shots for you if you’d like. I have IDJ custom jackets and most of the time they’re curved inward to allow for the base of the stone they’re meant to fit.

I changed my martini setting to Brian Gavin’s Barbara milgrain bezel to match my pendant. They also created these stunning jackets to go with the earrings. DBD86CBC-B0BA-49F6-90DE-342154398C90.png

I purchased really nice jackets for a pair of smaller studs that I have. I never liked how they sat in the jackets. They protruded too much. I had my studs reset into a thin bezel setting. They look so much better because they settle in more than the four prong basket setting.
