After scoping out the prices of the vendors on price scope...I''m sort of leaning toward purchasing a diamond over the internet.

Are there any prefered vendors that I should contact?

I''m looking for a .60-.75 carat princess cut E-F-G color, VS1-SI1 with a good cut.

Help?

I have chosen GOG....For many reasons, but also due to location, information, and availability of stones...and let's not forget upgrade-ability!....and oh yes, good reply times.... I trust the pricescope vendors so much more than my local vendors!

There are a number of vendors here that PS have used. I'd do a perusal of the archives and see if one vendor feels better to you.

Actually, it might help to choose a stone first and the seller after - unless you are looking for one of the H&A pieces, each stone is likely to be listed by more than one seller... Choice is the point of this venue, after all

To many posters before you, the quickest answer to their e-mail made the deal.

GOG is great, but their ervices come at a price - as you may soon discover, and their stones are just about only top cuts (or discounted). If this is you choice to begin with (the best ideal cut) - why not, but otherwise, each store has it's own twist. Only those tops H&As are mostly alike - as soon as your choice leans towards, say, color over clarity or either versus cut, than the selection of one seller might be closer to your desired range.

This is about as much as I could say without knowing what the stone should be like.

Congrats on finding the right lady! That is much more important than finding the perfect diamond for her IMHO

I am just now finalizing a purchase with Dirt Cheap Diamonds and my experience with Jim and Josh has been a great one. They are very patient and are fairly quick at returning phone calls and giving you a detailed visual performance description over the phone for stones you are considering.

I also had a good (albeit brief) experience with Robin from NiceIce, which seems to have outstanding stones too.

If you follow the advice of the "veterans" on this site, and I highly doubt you will be anything but thrilled with your ultimate selection.

Congrats again!

Well,

I'm looking for color and cut over clarity and carat. I'd like a nice princess cut that is pretty close to square.

I think my budget is going to land me in the .60-.75 carat range. So I guess that's where I start.

Hi Jake. I think Valeria gave some good advice.

Almost any stone you could hope to find will be listed here on PS. Do a search and narrow down the stone you want. You will probably find the stone listed by multiple vendors. Also, most of those vendors will match the pricing of the others listed on PS.

So..how do you pick which one to go with since there will be wonderful testimonials from probably every one of the PS vendors.

Some of the criteria you may want to use:
* Are they located in your state? If so you may have to pay sales tax?
* What is their return policy?
* Do they offer a lifetime trade-in / upgrade?
* Will they send the stone(s) to an independent appraiser before you have to purchase?
* Do they charge for shipping?

etc. etc. etc.

You can go directly to the websites of the PS vendors and find out this information.
Once you have found the stone you want to pursue with the company who offers the service you like...contact them and see how responsive and helpful they are.
If they are responsive...go with them.
If they aren't...go to the next one on your list.

Hope this helps and happy hunting!
