Hey PriceScope,

I am starting the process of looking for an E-ring. My budget if pretty flexible. I am a very much a function over form type of guy. Which is a bit opposite of my girlfriend.

8K and under with setting...
I would like to buy a diamond that is roughly:
.98-1.5ct
Color: I+
Clarity:?

I would want every thing to be EyeClean.

I would really prefer to buy used but I do have a decent budget 8K with setting and under if necessary.

any advice would be great.

What is the typical mark down for diamonds and Erings for used. But gia certified.
I was looking at CList and found:
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/jwl/4272728975.html
seems to be priced a bit high: $6480 => $4999

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/jwl/4251605561.html
price 4K
Carat Weight 1.00 carat
Color Grade: F
Clarity Grade: SI2
Cut Grade:Good

No to that cushion ring. Cushions are hard to buy. Its not easy to find pretty ones and that one on CL does
not look like its very nice. And the round stone looks deep...if its 62.7 (hard to read the report)
it will face up small for a 1 carat and you wont be getting your moneys worth.

I'm all about getting a good deal but I don't think either of them are it.

Take a look at this one.

Should be eye-clean, and after Pricescope discount, would still leave enough room for a really nice setting. This might satisfy the pragmatist in you (save money with fluor, PS discount), while also getting something that really makes your wife-to-be happy (nice setting and stellar-cut, eye-clean stone):

1.033ct, H, VS2

Fantastic stone...add a nice setting and you are at or under budget and have an BGD Blue AGSL Ideal cut.....

Quick question:
Should I stick to GIA certified only; or is EGL, AGS, etc fine?

Additionally, does it really matter if it is certified if I plan to get a used one appraised any ways? (if I buy used)

Thanks for the help on the links guys!

We tend to suggest that you stick to GIA & AGS. Appraisals are really only used for insurance purposes.

Thanks for the quick response.

Is there a table/depth ratio I should have?

Hey was searching through diamonds and I came across this:
http://www.uniondiamond.com/AE0790055&ptc=PS
Item#: AE0790055
GIA Report: 2156733632
Carat Weight: 1.00 carat
MM: 5.98X5.93X4.14
Color: H
Clarity: VS1
Cut Good
Depth: 69.4%
Table: 55%
Girdle:
Culet: None
Polish: EX
Symmetry:VG
Fluorescence: None
Price: $4,686.00 / $4,977.00

Is

That is far too deep! Parameters you want to follow:

table: 54-57 (sometimes 60 if depth is also 60)
depth: 59-62.4
pavillion: 40.5-40-9
crown: 34-35ish

That is a very bad diamond.

Here's what I'd do--
1. Pick a diamond in your budget from Brian Gavin (a Brian Gavin Signature or BG Blue), White Flash (an A Cut Above [ACA] diamond), or Good Old Gold (a round hearts and arrow diamond).
2. If you don't want that, go to JamesAllen.com and
a)put in max price, min clarity, min color.
b) sort by carat
c) find 3 biggest stones that look eye clean to you that meets 03diamond<3's parameters.
d) get idealscope images
e) post idealscope images here and ppl can help decide what looks good.

Redog listen and look at the suggested stones PSers are giving you as we spend hours looking as diamonds. the one suggested above is amazing.

Thanks all, Will post when i finally decide to pull the trigger.
