Hi,

I am quite new to this site but have found lots of helpful information here!

I just got engaged a few weeks ago. Since my BF wanted to really surprise me (and he did), he had bought me a very nice symbolic E-ring.
Now we are after the "real" E-ring.
Since we are living in Europe but are having a trip planned to Chicago next week we wanted to buy the ring there!

Since I don''t know Chicago at all I hope that someone out there can give me tips of where to find E-rings in Chicago!
Cartier and Tiffany I know where they are- but brands are not a big issue for me- I rather get a nice diamond for a decent price.

I am after either an E-ring with an emerald cut or a traditional round diamond.

Anyone?

Thanks!

Congrats on your engagement!

I'm not from Chicago, but I do believe that I've heard a few good things on here about dimend SCAASI, which is located over there.

Although I'm sure some people familiar with the area will chime in, to start you off, I did a search on Pricescope for past topics similar to this, and I managed to find a few: click here.

Good luck with your search!

Mostly from reading here, I would second Dimend Scaasi. Hopefully Dee Jay will stop by, our local expert, and confirm or add to this suggestion (or recommend otherwise!).

For pure INVENTORY I would check out New York Jewelers at 11 N. Wabash, ask for David Rosenwasser. They carry by far the largest selection of in-house stones that I've found in the City. (Note I'm not saying to necessarily *buy* from NYJ, but to check them out for options. If you do decide to buy from them I think you'll find their prices about 3-5% above internet prices--at least that has been my experience.) One caveat: I've never been happy with their stone setting so make sure you let them know up front that you are UBER picky and will only accept something that is perfectly set. They're open 9-5:30 M/T/W/F, 9-7 Thurs., 10-5 Sat, closed on Sunday.

If you want to see settings go to Marshall Pierce at 29 E. Madison, 6th Floor, and ask for Jerry Bern. They have a limited selection of settings in the cases, but they have a LOT of trays of designer settings in the back that they can bring out for you. They are open 9-5 Mon-Friday. I think they do have Saturday hours, but they are abbreviated so call first, 312-372-2415.

Also, I don't know how long you'll be here but if you figure out EXACTLY what you want Mike Gale at 312-920-0075 can bring some things in for you to look at. His prices are VERY good, but he doesn't carry an in-house inventory so he has to bring all the stones in.

The street level vendors on Wabash are... ok... but I would use them for idea shopping only. I suppose if you found a setting that you LOVE that would be OK, but for stones, no way.

I bought my set from dimend scassi. They were fabulous and patient to work with. I''m already planning my next purchase from them, soon!

Thank you all for the fast and informative answers!
Now I know where to start!

Thanks!
