Hi everyone! I got a new e-ring to show off :) ..... but I was also hoping to ask some opinions on hand-engraving & milgrain that I might have added to the band.

First off, 2 quick pictures:

:) I'm very happy with it, It's exactly what I've always dreamed of... cushion cut, 2.01 carat, double claw prong, diamond set low, thin platinum band with some pave. We had it custom made....... I'll do a better write up for it later on when I've made some more decisions and have better pictures.

ANYWAYS, I'm considering having the milgrain and simple linear hand-engraving added on to the side of the band. It was always the original plan to have these on my ring, but my fiance surprised me with the ring in an "unfinished" stage to surprise me ahead of schedule... we are planning to go back to have these things added, but I'm now starting to fall in love with the smooth simple band... i don't know what to do!

These added features might make it look more unique and possibly a little more antique-looking... or just keep it plain? Anyone have hand-engraving and love/hate it? Honest opinions please - thanks!

Your ring is gorgeous! I personally LOVE engraving and milgrain because it adds interest and texture to the ring. I think it looks more interesting to the eye and would look so nice. Is it a big deal to add it? How long will it take? If you were to buy it today for the same price, which one would u get? plain or etched??

How about leaving it plain and instead get all those detils in a diamond wedding band!!

Lovely ring!!! I really love engraving/ miligrain work ... I personally think it would compliment your ring very well. That being said, how do you feel about it? If you have traditionally been drawn to such settings, then I'd go for it! I am considering on my set as well ... I think it can really make a ring unique.

I also love milgrain and engraving! I'd for sure add the milgrain and you can go either way on the engraving. But that ring is a lovely design!

Oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVE the profile of your ring - perfection! I think it's gorgeous as is, but I also think engraving and milgrain would look superb on it. So I say yes!

I think milgraining and engraving would look excellent on your ring! I really think it would add a nice touch. However, it is also very beautiful as is.

ok well first we need more pics and info on your ring!!! who made the setting, that is gorgeous!

ETA just reread and saw that it was custom made. I love the curves on the basket, it is beautiful

I would add milgrain but not engraving (but this is my preference! I think both could look great too!)

I think it would look really pretty with mil/engraving. You only have a small amount of metal on th side so it would not
overwhelm the ring. I say do it!

I think milgraining either side of the pave with a very fine milgrain would be lovely. I'd leave off the engraving. Your ring design is stunning. I think the milgrain will finish it, but engraving may gild the lily.

Thanks everyone for the advice!

I decided to just do the milgrain for now... I'm 100% sure on that one. The engraving I'm still 50/50 on... so I'll wear the milgrain only for awhile and see if that's enough. Go back later for the engraving if I still want it.

I promise a new post and lots of new pictures in a week or two. Also, it was made by Dimend Scaasi in Chicago.. we're very happy with the entire experience so far, I'll post about that too.

I think you made a great decision -- it's a beautiful ring, and I love the profile, and, personally, I think milgrain without engraving will show off the profile even more.

Well, my new ring has both...which I love...but I think your ring will look awesome with just the milgraining! Can't wait to see pics! :appl:

I think milgrain on the e ring would add a nice personal touch.
Do the entire engraving thing on your wedding band .
I am sort of partial to the Martin Flyer hand engraved bands.

Your ring is gorgeous. Congratulations.
