Is there a specific reason you want a E-F/IF stone? You are paying much more for a clarity in a diamond that is not needed for a diamond to be beautiful and a color in G H I will still be very white in a setting.

Grading lab?

Neither. I would not buy an IF diamond.

And if I DID buy an IF diamond I would only buy one that is also a D color.

I would drop SAFELY down to VS1. And go up in size.

I agree with the previous posters.
IF was all I wanted, but "settled" for a VVS2 because the diamond was so beautiful.
I spent ages trying to find the flaw with my 10x loupe; finally looked through my jewelers microscope and said "that's it?!
Even with the 'scope it was a chore to find, and I will always be able to identify my own stone by its individual characteristic.

The crown angle is too steep, especially on #1. I'd keep looking, and I'd also consider a drop in clarity, unless you just want an IF for your own reasons.

Just to be clear - IF does NOT mean the stone is flawless, or anything close.

It means that the inclusions cannot be seen with a 10x loupe. That's all it means.

An IF stone can also still be graded IF, even with blemishes (but not inclusions) that are visible using a 10x loupe

When magnified enough, almost every stone will show SOME inclusions.

I agree with everything already said. Both stones are A Little steep. I would rather have an ideal cut 1 carat G - H si1 eye clean stone than D, E,F IF .70 sorry. just my opinon

I was going to say the same thing. If I was buying a round diamond, if I was goin to spend the money on that kind of clarity I would want it a D. Make it something with the hiest stats.

As you can tell from the above responses, those aren't very popular specs here. That, of course, doesn't make them wrong but given that you're asking for a decision between them, I'm not surprised that you're not getting a simple A or B answer. The key data missing is the identity of the lab(s) responsible for the grading, the search criteria that led to those two as the finalists, and the marketplace you're shopping in (for example are these internet purchases where you don't much care who the dealers is or are they inventory at a dealer you really want to support?). Yes, it matters.

FWIW, both look on paper to be lovely stones.

I vote neither one...for all the reasons posted above. But i would recommend you state your budget and then the PSr's knowledgeable on MRB's can help you find a much larger excellent cut and performing stone in your budget. Good luck with your search.

You also need the diameter measurements. The first stone is too deep and that is why it has a smaller diameter than the second stone. I'd choose the second one from the limited info, but I wouldn't choose without seeing a magnified picture of the stone and an idealscope image. Is the IF for reasons other than you wanting a clean stone?
