**Dust dust dust**

Oh the poor pup! He must be scared to death! Dust to Merlin and his owners!!!

How awful. Sending mounds of dust their way...

Frenchies and English bullies are frequently stolen. They are difficult to breed, so you don't see a lot of them come from puppy mills or back yard breeders. So, most of the time - you can only get one from a reputable breeder. Decent breeders will not adopt to lowlifes so they become big targets if left unattended in public.

So sorry to hear about this, they must be heartbroken.

ETA: after reading the story, I wonder...could someone have become irritated that this dog was locked inside a car for half an hour? What were the temperatures that day? If the dog appeared to be in stress, an overzealous dog lover could have taken matters into their own hands...

According to the article, this dog was left in the car while the owner was shopping. I don''t know what the weather was like there that day, but it can become dangerously hot for a dog in a car even when the outside temp is only in the 50-60''s. Since nothing else was taken, it''s possible someone took the dog because they thought they were saving it. I am not saying taking the dog was the right thing to do, it clearly was not, but it is also not right to leave a dog in a car. I hope the dog is found soon.

Sorry to hear about the puppy! I would tell your GM to keep an eye on Craigslist or other pet selling websites. There was a lady who had her puppy stolen, only to be able to buy it back on Kijiji months later. She got her puppy back and was able to report the seller to the police. Some people steal these dogs because they know they are expensive and can sell them for a large amount of money. I hope they get the puppy back!

This is so heartbreaking. I don''t think the dog could have been in distress. It''s not hot in the area at this time of year. I hope the people who took him will be kind to him.

thank you all for your well wishes.
To answer a few questions - while is was in the mild 60''s, this was an undercover parking, so not in direct weather. But, regardless of the debate, the person who did it was just WRONG.

Thank you again to everyone. Fortunately all of us have multiple "dog" contacts (rescue groups, royal grayhounds group, dog trainers, dog babysitters, etc), and we will find Merlin!

Oh, no!!! JCarly, I''m so sorry to hear this! I don''t know if you''re aware or not, but DH and I just added a Frenchie pup to our family last September. As a Frenchie owner, this is one of my worst nightmares!!! Our little guys are VERY prone to being stolen because they''re a relatively rare breed, the puppies are quite expensive (usually about $2,000 and up from a reputable breeder), and because they''re just so darn CUTE! I can only imagine what Merlin''s owners are going through right now . . . I know I would be a complete wreck if this ever happened to our Tucker! I''m praying that Merlin gets returned to his owners very soon. Also, I belong to a French Bulldog forum, and I''ll cross-post this info so that all the wonderful folks there can keep an eye out for Merlin.

That is the most horrible thing ever. I really hope the pup gets reunited with the owners!

That''s horrible. It happened to my girlfriend. Her english bulldog puppy was stolen from her fenced in yard. He had been fixed & chipped and they found him a year later and our police department returned Munster back to her. I had her file a police report, here its considered grand theft.
OMG, Michelle, thank God she got him back! Our breeder microchipped Tucker before we even got him, and I''m so glad she did . . . makes me sleep a little easier!

eta: Just read the followup post. I hope she gets her dog back.

So sorry.
I can't image losing a dog; we love ours so much.

Yes. But it was sad. She missed all his puppyhood and he had obviously not been trained. He wasn''t the same when she got him home. The only good thing was that the idiot who stole him wasn''t able to breed off of him. The story was that he was passed around to friend upon friend of the theif''s. Poor guy. She was still happy to have him home.
Aww, the poor little guy! That''s so sad! That''s no way for a puppy to have to live!

I''m glad he''s finally back home where he belongs, though!

That is just terrible. Hope the little fella makes it back home.

I''m so sorry; that''s awful!

Irish- THANK you so much for posting that on your board. Myself, and my friend really appreciate it.
Tradegirl - thank you for the link! I think my friend did post there, but i will forward on the link anyways.

Thank you again everyone for your well wishes. We''re hoping this case turns into a news story such as "dedicated owners catch dognappers!"

I have five of them. Having one stolen is my worst nightmare. I don''t even let them go out into my fenced back yard unless I am with them.

Oh no! Dust for your friend''s puppy JCar!!!!

DUST-DUST-DUST

I really hope the dog is found. My family had a dog stolen from our yard and we never found him. We wondered for *years* what had happened to him. It''s very sad. Good luck!

FIVE?!?! Oh, Tradergirl, I''m soooo jealous!!! Ever since we got Tucker, I''ve been wanting another Frenchie. They really are like potato chips . . . you can''t have just one! LOL!

BTW, I''d love to see pics of your "kids" if you wouldn''t mind posting a few?
