I got some really sad news today, my 16 year old kitty is really sick. The vet isn't giving up, but he's not optimistic. I'm just crying that I'm over here, and she's in a vet clinic with no one she knows with her. I just wish I was there to comfort her and maybe say good-bye. ;(

I'm so sorry that you can't be with you kitty at this time. Our previous wonderful kitty had been wounded, we found her in the bushes of the neighbour's lot. I knew she was in bad shape so we took her to the only vet open on the weekend.

She insisted that we leave her there in a cage and she was certain that our furbaby would last the night ....alone????!!!!.

We believed her because kitty was still responsive while I was holding her. We were escorted out of the office very quickly and the vet walked out with us leaving our treasured kitty behind. I hoped for the best, but it was not to be. Our kitty passed away during the night. To this day, I believe that she would still be alive if I'd been able to hold her through the night. I will never forgive myself for not speaking up.

We have had another furbaby now for almost 15 years. Yes, he's had some health problems over the years, but if he is very illl, I would stay with him at the vet's until he passes in my arms or manages to find another 'life' with medication.

I truly believe that you should try your best to be with your kitty now while he's still alive.

All the best to you and your kitty.

Lots of healthy kitty dust and big hugs headed your way!

If you don't have anyone able to take a shirt of yours in to the vet, can you ship one there for her? I'm sure she'd enjoy snuggling up with something of yours even if you can't be there in person.

I've asked a friend of mine if she could go by my house and see if something could be taken to her, it takes about 3 weeks to get something back and forth.

Oh Andelain, I am so sorry; you seem to have absolutely more than your fair share of hardship in the last few years. :(sad I will keep you and your kitty in my prayers - what is her name?

Thank you all, this really means a lot to me. Her name is Blackfoot. You can see in this pic how she got the name. It's good for a laugh, because I'm part Native American, but a different tribe. Yes, the rotten thing was sleeping in this pic!

Dust for your kitty!

My kitty is epileptic and he has episodes where the meds can't keep it under control. Whenever he is at the vet overnight the techs really go all out to make sure he feels safe and comfortable. I'm sure the wonderful people at the vet clinic are giving your kitty lots of love.

They are. The vet has her in his office so she doesn't have to listen to all the other animals. He sent me this pic that was taken Saturday. She looks so sick. ;(

I'm also sending dust for your kitty.

Aw, Andelain...I'm so sorry to hear that your kitty is sick. :(sad I will definitely keep her (and you) in my thoughts and prayers. What's her name? Can you post a pic?

Here's some pics. You can get some idea of her personality, regal, but spoiled rotten.

I'm sorry Andelain. I believe in human/animal communication. If you can find a quiet spot to meditate and send her love, she will feel it and send it back and you will feel it too. Hugs to you both.

I've been doing that, and I appreciate all of you that have been too. I just got off the phone with her vet, and he said she's doing a little better. He said she's far from being out of danger, but he has some hope. So do I, please keep the prayers and dust going out for her, she's my baby. I've had her since she was little enough to sit on one hand with room to spare.

It is so nice looking all the photos of her so I can picture her when sending dust her way. What a sweet beauty. I am glad she is in a quiet place at the vet's and is doing a little better. Hopefully all these good vibes are finding their way to her.

Renal failure doesn't actually mean failure, and a lot of the time it can be managed with some daily care. It is common for kitties to have a crash, then to rebound from it if they are treated. We kept our renal kitty going for three years after her crash!

Do a web search for "tanya crf" then read everything you can on her site.

You pegged her little personality, she's the queen of all she surveys. She'll sit there and preen herself so daintily, then climb in my lap and roll unto her back for a belly rub. Her favorite place to be is in my lap, or on me when I'm trying to sleep.

That's what I'm hoping for here, a one-time crash. Her vet said the pneumonia brought it on, along with her age. The news today is good, she's still improving. Still far from being out of danger, but her numbers have gotten better. She ate a little of the special food her vet gave her, and she has the staff there wrapped around her little paw.

Please keep the dust and prayers coming, it seems to be working. :wavey: :wavey: :wavey: :wavey:

Very glad your kitty is feeling better. Were you able to get a friend to bring over something that smells like you? Or her own bedding? DUST outgoing!

It's still too soon to celebrate, but a certain someone is improving. Keep the dust and prayers headed her way, her vet says she's doing much better than he thought she would.

Dust and Prayers. A renal diet and medication may be able to keep her comfortable and around for a while longer yet. I had an 8 year old Tonk (not the one that is my avatar) that I tried to save from stones in the kidney tubes to no avail so I know how heart breaking that can be, I hope she is on the mend.

Thanks, everyone! :wavey: :wavey: :wavey: :wavey: :wavey: :wavey:

On Saturday morning her time the vet removed her IV. Her kidney and liver test numbers had made it down to the normal range, better than he said he could have hoped for. Now the acid test, do the numbers stay good without the fluid and med drip going in. If they stay good, she gets to join me in the Borrowed Time Club. A week ago her vet didn't think she was going to make it through the night, but she's out to write her own rules. Please keep the dust headed her way.
