Yup. One of my bro-in-laws said that at his dealership, they had to replace the cat for a poor customer twice in like a month.

Yep, the metal in these things are crazy expensive. One of the professors at my university (I am an inorganic chemist) is researching making catalysts using vanadium instead (much cheaper, plus lower op temp).
