It came today! 1.25ct, 6.84mm. No sun, totally overcast and coooold. I had some ideas in mind what to do w/it but now I don't know! Any suggestions welcome, and metal color ideas?
Also took some pics of my little collection-it makes me so happy to look at it!
Good going, Packrat! I'm a sucker for those light green tourms, but man, I love your chysoberyls, especially the round one in the lower left corner! It looks like you have only well cut stones in your collection.
Also, thanks so much for a photo of snow - I am a transplanted New Englander and boy, do I miss it
Oh boy, we've got snow! Not near as much as we did last year at this time. Last year we ended up w/60+ inches thru the winter. I think right now we're at like..4. I bet it's weird being away from it!
I'm in NH and we had a huge storm yesterday and today. So now we've got a foot of snow and it's FREEZING!
Your tourmaline is beautiful and looks even better in person than in the picture! I especially like the picture of your collection! What is the pair of ovals beside your PT asscher?
Thanks BN! I'm really happy w/it. I notice the pics look like they have a haze over them..like a film or something. This must be the weirdness Kenny and TL were talking about. The tourm is really very sparkly and bright!
The ovals on the bottom by PT's asscher are the supernova zircons Michael E cut for me last Spring. They go along w/the supernova yellow chryso above them for the three stone..the ever elusive three stone. They're white and have just a hint of pink in them-which I never saw until Michael and a couple eagle eyes on here pointed it out! They really look pink in these pics, I suppose b/c they're next to the asscher.
Packrat looks like you're suffering from the same weather as me! We've been knee deep in snow for what feels like weeks!
I'm sensing a theme in your collection - you're veering to yellow based stones! I adore your Chryso's and also the new addition. You asked about what colour to set it in? Well if you want a very cool looking ring then it must be w/gold but if you want to warm up the stone and excentuate the colour then y/gold would do the trick. You're lucky because I think you could use either colour metal depending on the end look you want.
Packrat, such a pretty collection! I'm nuts about the chryso on the lower left, beautiful cut & saturation & tone & everything else. Love the asscher too. What to do with the ovals in your first pics? I see them as knockout earrings!
I see that you also experienced this washing out of colour once pictures are posted on PS. I don’t fully understand what is going on though but I feel your pain.
I love the crispness of the stone! It's a horrible sounding description, but looks like the color of iceberg lettuce to me. Which I happen to like Metal choice, I think an icy argentium silver would make the stone pop, but maybe I'm weird
I too have the problem with pictures turning washed out and unsaturated when uploaded to PS, so I darken them slightly before and then they come out normal
Oh yeah, and, green gold, green gold, greengold with maybe some gold accents patinated black!!!
Thanks guys! haha iceberg lettuce! That makes me chuckle. I took some pics in the sun today but I don't know how good they are. Gotta get groceries and then I'll check when I get back and see if they're worth posting or not. Also will post what my idea is and you guys can tell me what you think.
Last one, then what I've been thinking of for it. I stole Heliotrope's drawing from her goshenite ring..I was thinking to do a double bezel like that, only the inside bezel round obviously. Also, a pic of Coati's ring, w/the round/cushion double bezel. So, like hers only square instead of cushion for the outside bezel. And my plan was to do either yellow or rose gold for the round bezel next to the stone and then silver for all the rest. However, I don't know if that would look nice or if both bezels should be the same metal color.
Also, was thinking of setting it on point, maybe, like this other ring I found..
This is the other one, set on point. So..a round bezel inside there. Unsure. Then also, thought maybe it's too different w/the two different shapes and maybe setting it on point like that. Maybe should be double round, like the DM ring..even tho this is a three stone.
