how did you determine one was ''h&a'' while the other wasn''t?

I''d pick #1 for the med blue since they''re both going to be decent by the numbers.... also the VS2 since you''re getting it sight unseen....

In the comments section on the first one the diamond is inscripted "H&A"

aha. well...that you can take with a grain of salt. ags does not grade optical symmetry (h&a). the h&a inscription is what the cutter had imprinted. it could have just as easily said ''i love horses''. obviously ''h&a'' is more marketable.

the other stone could very well be ''h&a'' too. just because it doesn''t say it, doesn''t mean it isn''t h&a. and vice versa!

Is there anyway to tell once i get the ring if it is H&A or AGS0? Also, the only thing that has me nervous is

Option 1) The color of H.....

Option 2) The clarity of SI1...even though the AGS chart doesn''t look too bad.

both are ags0.

you can tell that be the grading report.
if you had a h&a viewer you would be able to determine h&a. but, you will only be able to get an idea of the 'arrows' portion of the h&a because the 'hearts' are on the pavilion side, which you will not be able to see once the stone is mounted.

Option 1) The color of H.....
you *may* notice some color from the side (everyone's perception is different) but it will not look 'yellow' at all.

it is something to be concerned about if eye clean is important to you. your options are:
1. get vs or even vvs to be sure
2. use a vendor that has diamonds 'in house' that can look at the diamonds for you
3. take your chances

you absolutely can NOT determine how eye clean a stone will be from the plot alone.

Another thing to remember is that a blue fluoro may make the stone look better than an H;-)
Good luck with the choosing!

Wow, it''s getting even now!!! Should I just go a safer route and have Blue Nile examine the SI1 for eye-visible and purchase that one?

I''m very afraid of my girlfriend noticing YELLOW in the H color
