Guys, my search has come down to these 2 RB's, both with very similar specs. They are also the same prince. Please help me decide based on the the links and ideal scopes. Thanks as always!

RB #1

I like the fatter arrows on the second one.

The IS for #1 still looks better than #2 IMHO (more pink/red saturation under the table compared with #2). The black crystal inclusion in #1 is also a little off-centre and in the video, its masked when the stone is being viewed from angles. The crystal in #2 is right in the middle (BUT it does appear to be a much smaller crystal than in #1). Also, while the inclusion plot for #1 is definitely busier than #2's, #1 doesn't have any additional clarity characteristics showing up in the "Additional comments" section of the report unlike #2 (additional clouds and pinpoints).

The only thing I like about #2 is that its optical symmetry looks better from the IS compared with #1. The arrow shafts are aligned more with the arrow heads compared with #1 where some of the arrow shafts do not connect to the heads in the middle. But those arrow shafts for #2 look a little hazier to my eyes compared with the arrow shafts for #1 (and that may be due to some of the additional clouds that are not plotted on its report). You also can't see in the black crystal inclusion in #2 from the side compared with #1.

Hard call to make given that you've said both are the same price. On a "technical" level, I'd still go #1 purely on the IS and what shows up in the reports. But looking at both stones in the videos, #2 also speaks to me.

I prefer stone #2. I do not like when you see black coming out from the sides of an arrow (like in #1).
Either the H&A are off or the stone is not straight in the photo.

The second - smaller table, fatter arrows!!

Oh WOW guys this is tough! I'm still undecided based on what you guys are saying. It seems as if the consensus says to go with #2. I'm just a little concerned that the IS doesn't have that deep red color to it like #1; the table area seems more whiteish to me.

Which will shine more is the question!

I also noticed that in the videos, RB#1 has less white light coming off of the stone when compared to RB#2 (looking at the surface). What could this mean?

Can they do a video of the two stones side-by-side so you can compare them? Seems if they're both in house…but I don't know if JA does this

Tried, but they don't offer unfortunately =(

Nope, you are wrong about the depth of IS color...that's mostly photography difference.

The second stone is superior to the first. It has perfect measurements and a pretty perfect idealscope image! Easy choice!

Am learning after assisting salcas in this thread that I really shouldn't trust the previous stuff I've learnt about IS (ie maximum saturation of pink/red throughout the stone, apart from contrast points, is preferred) too much given that shoddy photography can alter the image saturation.

Maybe I should skip getting an IS and just get an ASET scope instead...

Just made the purchase for RB #2 :D:D:D

Thanks everyone...much appreciated!!

w00t! :D

Can't wait to see the stone in its setting salcas!

Yes, I agree that an ASET image is superior to IS. However, you have to look at the depth of red within one image and not compare it to another image. That second image is pretty consistent in depth of red color. It shouldn't have a lighter center indicating leakage with 34.5/40.8 angles. It's really a beautifully cut stone and could even be close to H&A if we could see hearts images. Even though I have been buying H&A stones, that second stone is one I'd buy for myself!

#2 is a well proportioned stone.

Thanks for the clarification DS2006. I'm learning more each week I'm on PS from PS veterans like yourself. :)

The pink areas in nr 2 are not leakage, and I don't think they are due to photography difference.
If the red nuance is different in both pictures, it is probably related to the lower girdle length, GIA rounding the numbers, and perhaps some very slight difference in girdle brillianteering.
I don't think the pink is a bad thing, and I believe you will see a lot of action in those areas.
If I could choose between the 2 stone, I would also choose nr 2, because of the more pleasing optical symmetry and the thinner girdle.
Look how arrow in nr 1 at 1 o'clock is broken...

See, this is why I love this forum! I didn't even notice the arrow at 1 o'clock being broken.

I'm so excited to see how #2 looks in person =]

Two is by far the more superior IS. #2 is a picture perfect IS with very symmetrical looking LGFacets (the white glazed pink triangles on either of the arrows)

Bmfang, additional clouds in vs1 will never cause haziness or fuzziness on the arrow heads.

Thanks for the education gm88uk. :) Increasing my knowledge each time when you more experienced members provide comment.

Congrats on your new diamond purchase! It is beautiful!:appl:

RB #2 arrived yesterday =)
It sure does sparkle! I'm going to record a short vid and post it later to this thread.

Yayy!! :appl:

This is in horrible kitchen lighting. I feel that the video doesn't do much justiceo_O

It looks gorgeous!!! :love::love::love: Congrats!!

beautiful stone! congrats!!

Here it is with 'optimal' lighting. I can't stop looking at this thing!
