I bought a couple of rings from them once and then returned them. They were a great price but one had stones I didn''t like and I wasn''t sure about the settings. Truthfully, I wished I had kept them. They were a
great price. One is till on the site, but they have really jacked up the price. They were about 600, and 700. After I returned them they raised the price to 800, and 899, and now the one they have left is 1200.
If you find a great deal, jump on it. They weren''t crazy about me returning them but they accepted the return and very promptly credited my card.
I''ve bought a number of things from them over the years. The prices were always amazing. The descriptions were often a bit off, but it was usually obvious in the auction (i.e., the 2 ct transitional cut diamond was called an I color, but the pictures showed obvious body color so I was guessing it was about M or N, and yep, it sure was. Price was still a steal though.)
They will sometimes let you ask for a no-questions-asked return period. I hate buying antique jewelry without having a good return policy, so I always ask for a return period from them.
Good customer service.
So yeah, they sometimes get great stuff, have great prices, but I think they don''t always describe or inspect carefully.
Hello, I bought the ring in my avatar from them and while it was what they said it was in the description of the ring they also stated it was vintage and that I am not so sure of, after I bought this ring they posted others with the exact same specs and when I emailed them twice, questioning it, I did not get a response. I know it was a common style in the era but with exact same diamond specs? I chose to keep the ring since I loved it and the price was right, shipping was fast. They did have a good return policy and I do watch them and would buy from them again just knowing that the origin may be not what they are stating? Depends if that is important to you.
^^ I''ve seen your ring on their website. I''m wondering though if what they said the color and clarity to be is indeed what it is? I am interested in a ring I saw that is G color Si1 clarity with an inclusion on the side but it was appraised by a GIA gemologist not actually by GIA.
I''ve dealt with Dover for many years and have purchased some lovely pieces from them. Ask for their RETURN POLICY BEFORE YOU BUY ANYTHING IN CASE YOU DON''T LIKE WHAT YOU BOUGHT! They recently changed their policy to NO RETURNS.
As for the GIA quotes, ask to see the actual certificate if there is one.
Many of their "vintage" ring settings are made in Italy and I''ve bought several of them over the years....ruby, sapphire, emerald and diamond. Each ring was made in platinum and was very beautiful!
Check out Dover''s Ebay site...they have lots of listings that start at $1.00.
I''ve sent quite a bit of my personal jewelry collection to Dover to sell for me and I have interacted with Hamid for years.
Ckfern, I had my guy check it out, he verified what Dover had stated about the stones and even his grading was slightly better then Dovers so it was a great deal for me. Good Luck!
