I want to purchase the setting pictured below, but I cannot decide which metal to use and should i G. It will cost approximately $2,000 more for the set in platinum versus white gold. My questions are as follows:
1. Which is a better setting for double row micro pave? I can see the benefits of a stronger metal being able to hold the diamonds securely and a softer metal being able to act as a shock absorber to keep the stones set. Does anybody have experience with either metal in a micro pave setting?
2. Has anyone have experience with Double Row - Micro Pave in a Split Shank and the stones falling out?
3. I have read somewhere that drilling too many holes for the Micro Pave affects the Structure of the Ring setting, is that True?

Platinum Helene Diamond Ring
Micro-pavé diamonds shimmer from every angle of this stunning split shank engagement ring, which features a diamond adorned gallery and graceful claw prongs that embrace the center gem (2/5 total carat weight).
