So I have purchased what I think is the perfect stone for who I think is the perfect woman (at least for me)
It''s a gorgeous GIA G VS2 2.3ct Cushion Brilliant. It''s Square and Fat and Goregous. I had it in the box for a while and finally got it set in a Tiffany Style White Gold Temp Setting, the Jeweler agreed to apply the price of this setting towards the custom one we will build together once I propose.
The problem is, I liked the loose stone more in the box than in the temp ring! I thought the right setting would make the stone look bigger, brighter, and more alive....that is just not the case. I think the split prongs are too thick and the head (I think that''s what it''s called) hides a lot of the depth/fatness of the cushion which makes the stone look smaller than it really is.
I know I should not obsess about just a temporary setting, but I want my lady to be blown away when I give her this ring. I''m contemplating switching out the temp setting.....any suggestions? Ultimately we''ll probably get a thin pave band....but the prongs/cradle (head) are what is giving me the most concern.
Any thoughts would really help out. Thanks and happy new year.
