My impression of problems in our society comes from unintended consequences of action by Gv't, that were for good reasons, but backfire. Gov't made it easier to get student loans, mortgages and small business loans, ect medicare, and drug insurance.. Each of these made colleges expand, up tuition, and act more like a business than an institution for learning. Gov't, not intentionally, promotes greed in suppliers of the above services. You should see how much my drugs have gone up. Shocking.

We need to get the money out of politics. As DF's posts have aptly demonstrated in this thread: money is the root of all evil. Men will betray their own heritage and experiences, the welfare of the poor, the sick, the needy all for a few more bucks.

It's not Government. It's money.

He bares a HUGE amount of responsibility for this mess too. He undid Depression era regulations that led to the housing mortgage criss because economically he was too moderate.

That's one of primary reasons I don't like Hillary-- she's not left enough for me.

How far left do you wanna take our country? Do you want the U.S. to become a communist country?... Even China is moving more towards capitalism thus the reason their economy have flourished in the past 25 yrs.

DF, labels like "communism" or "socialism" have been abused to the point that all they do is ignore the positive contributions of those systems to an enlightened society. I don't want any "one" label. I want a blend of the positives of both capitalism and socialism, with some other theories thrown in. And yes, I do not mind paying higher taxes to achieve a society and economy that is greater than the sum of it's parts that includes taking care of the poor, making sure our children don't starve, and reforming the healthcare system so that it rewards cures and good health instead of a system that profits from keeping people sick.

I don't mind paying higher taxes either "IF" the money go to educating our kids and support the elderly.

Well, of course not. You would actually have to understand American History to do that. And as AZ stone already demonstrated, you don't. Look up the great depression. The dust bowl. Read the Grapes of Wrath. People died of starvation all the time. That's what happens in an unregulated free market. People starve.

You know what stopped that? Welfare and food stamps. Exactly those "socialist" programs you resent most are the ones that saved us as a nation.

So I'm not surprised. You think all people on welfare are scam artists and lazy from all your posts. You think food stamps are a waste of your money. And you would do away with both altogether because the 100 bucks a year it costs you is too much. And $100 is an over estimate. The average tax payer who makes 50,000 pays only pays $36 dollars a year for those programs. But you think that's SUCH an important thing that you vote for the Right because you think your right to $100 a year is worth more than preventing another dust bowl and great depression.

The more you give the less incentive to work. Heck, why go to work when everything comes free. Free housing, free foods, free cell phone, and uncle Bernie promise me a free car ...

I believe that Gypsy's point was that one needs to study the things that one does not experience personally, DF. We are all attuned to our own experiences. We may not, however, know about the experiences of other people who lived before us or who live in different lands. If one reads broadly and studies and thinks, rather than has a knee-jerk reaction, he is more likely to take into account the experiences that others have had when they ran into similar circumstances.

I hope that Gypsy does not mind my "translating" for her. If I dared to try to interpret a posting of kenny's his next posting would be one telling me to mind my own business since I can't read his mind!
