Does your ring have an inscription?

Just curious if anyone else has an inscribed ring. My sweet hubby had YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE inscribed inside my .88 rb anniversary ring. He''s always called me "his Sunshine" and was also touched by the way I sang "You are my Sunshine" to each of our babies as I rocked them to sleep." I think he got the idea of inscribing from a book I brought home from the library called Rings for the Finger. There was a list of inscriptions on rings from 200+ years ago. Like, "Thee alone I chuse." (That''s the only one I can remember. I should have written them down, because this very worn paperback book was eventually discarded!) Some were funny, almost offensive. DH must have seen how impressed I was by them and tucked that little idea away...

If it''s not too intimate to share, what do you all have written inside your rings?

My "real" wedding band isn''t inscribed because it doesn''t really have space (1/2 eternity), but we got me a travel/"gettin'' grubby" tungsten band and DH had it inscribed with "Forever my everything XOXO". I got his wedding band (which is tungsten) inscribed with "Today, tomorrow, forever yours". Both messages were secret when we chose them, so it''s kind of funny how they both go towards me being his. I think that''s because of the two of us, he''s the diehard romantic. He was completely against anything in our vows referring to death, like until death do us part. Always, forever, to eternity...all those are ok with him, but you''d better not put an expiration date on us. Me on the other hand - I''m a realist - so it meant a lot to him for me to use the word "forever".

Yes, that''s an asterisk. ...Because when we first started dating I would squeeze my thumb and index fingers together and tell him I loved him that much. At first he was bitter. As if, "Why?! Only that much?"
I responded, moving my fingers further apart, "Well, I could love you this much. But, that would be less because I love you with everything except what''s in between."
After that, he would bite on his pinched fingers and tell me he loved me that much more.

That said, we''re more like neatfreak. I plan on getting "Put it back on!" inscribed into his w-band.

Carrots, that is the sweetest thing I''ve heard. I love it!

No engravings here... we thought about it but never got around to doing it. Our jeweler said we could always do it later...

Our original plan is to surprise each other with a secret inscription; so we each went our own to the jeweler for the engraving.
The day after DH''s trip to the jeweler, I received one message from the jeweler (because we had left my phone number as the contact number). The jeweler was confused about the phrase that my DH was about to engrave on my band and asked if I could phone and confirm the message. Yes, the jeweler had ruined the surprise and I am glad he did. Let''s just say the phrase that my DH was about to use has double meaning.

The final bands have the engraving as following:
Mine says "M 29"
His says " J 29/08"

We couldn''t put the year on my band because there is not too much space left for the inscription. FYI, The font>

I love inscribed rings. I think they''re just so intimate and sweet, and I''m a die-hard cynic who doesn''t usually go in for when my husband tries to surprise me with overt romantic gestures! But the inscribed rings really get me

Both my rings are inscribed. My ER simply has our initials, and my wedding band has our wedding date (7/27/200

My husband originally planned on a platinum ring, which I planned to inscribe with "I will wait", a reference to my favorite Oscar Wilde quote (see? romance with a blatant side of humor!). Instead he went with a tungsten carbide band and we were told they couldn''t be inscribed easily. So we decided to wait on the engraving.

My ering has the first half of part of our (Catholic) vows: I will love you and honor you...

And his ring has the 2nd half: ...all the days of my life. His also has our wedding date.

My wedding ring only had room for the wedding date. I averted a disaster though because I had originally written down for Quest to engrave it with the wrong date. Whoops.

SanDiegLady and Logan Sapphire, How did your jewelers fit all that inside your rings? The letters in my inscription are touching each other in order to fit inside the shank. But it''s still read-able. I can''t even figure out how the poem fit. And really, after counting out the 22 letters plus 6 spaces in "I will love you and honor you" - how did they get that in? My inscription, YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE, has 16 letters and 3 spaces.

There''s a really sweet inscription scene in one of my favorite movies, A Song is Born. This 1940''s movie stars Danny Kaye, Virginia Mayo, and a bunch of jazz/swing greats. Danny Kaye plays an egghead music professor who falls in love with a show girl (Virginia Mayo). She already has a huge (6-7 ct?) emerald cut e-ring from her ganster boyfriend, and is hiding out among these doddering music professors, Danny the only one near her age. Well, of course, he falls for her, and buys the best he can on his small salary, a tiny diamond ring with which to propose. When he gives it to her, he explains the inscription inside: the first four notes of an aria, from a romantic opera. Four notes were all that would fit. Real "awww..." moment. Try to get this movie! Esp is you want to see excellent performances by the greats of swing, Benny Goodman (plays one of the profs!), Tommy Dorsey, Louis Armstrong, many others. I got the word DUZO engraved by laser in my hubby''s tungsten carbide band. It means "a lot" in Polish. We always say, I love you a lot, in Polish and duzo was our short way to text it to each other or just say it and we both knew what we meant. IT was a surprise for him to have it in his ring, and he loves it. My band is too small to have anything engraved that I could ever see so it''s only in his.

DH''s wband and my plain band (my real wedding band is too tiny) say "I am my beloved and my beloved is mine."

DH and one of his friends have the exact same wedding band except DH''s is white gold and his friend''s is plat. The other night, his friend was over and they were laughing about their similar taste. DH said "Well yeah, but do you have something engraved in yours?" and his friend said "Yeah!" and DH said "What does yours say?" and his friend responded "Artcarved!" (the brand).

There was an older thread on this topic awhile ago, and I think it''s HollyS (?) who has hers engraved with "I will" from the Episcopal wedding. I love that inscription.

Well, as I'm not lucky enough to have a ring yet, so there is no inscription (I did get sized yesterday, though, YAY!)

My BF is too goofy - and yet the total romantic - so I hadn't thought of engraving, but this has inspired me... I think I might! My Bf and I always tap each other on the nose and say "boop" - it's also an easy text or email that is not too sappy if someone is watching over your shoulder. We started with ILY - for I love you - but now it's mostly boop... I think I might use that in my future! I think boop started early on when saying using the "l-word" a lot was kinda scary still - for more history on boop... click here!

I think they fit mine in by abbreviating. The ring size is a 3.75 and is a three stone trellis, so maybe there's only 65% of engrave-able surface. They had to use cursive font and use "U" for "you" and use "&" for "and." In my original solitaire ering, they were able to do it in block letters with no abbreviations AND throw in my wedding date. Oh, they also erased the Quest and PLAT stamps in order to make room.

Mine is a sz 8 and it''s tiny font (parisian) but it was really hard to find a jeweler who could do machine engraving (I think 33, 34 characters incl spaces?). It depends on the capability of the machine they use from what I understand.
