I already know he/she is passionate about you so no need to share that answer haha.

No, rather, does your partner enjoy a hobby as much as you enjoy bling?
And what is that hobby? Is it expensive? When did he/she start engaging in that hobby? Does he/she discuss it with you? Do you take an interest in his/her hobby? Is it because you are genuinely interested or just to be supportive? Or do you guys engage in your hobbies without discussing it with each other? It makes you both happy and that is enough. Do you guys do tit for tat re spending money on that hobby? Or do you just spend as much as you want without caring what your partner spends?

What hobby/passion does your partner blissfully get lost in as you do bling?

I added a poll where you can choose as many options that apply. I ran out of energy so if I didn't include your option just fill in the blank and share it in your post. Thanks.

I'll start. My DH has so many hobbies he enjoys. I share two "hobbies" with him. One is cycling. The other (which isn't a hobby per se as it is a more serious cause but for lack of a better word and for the purposes of this thread) is animal rescue. TNR and working towards saving animals in general. We are both passionate about animals.

His other hobbies I enjoy hearing him discuss with me but I do not partake. Woodworking as an example. I reap the benefits and enjoy hearing him discuss it but I do not share that passion. He is also passionate about music and is an audiophile. I love music but it's not to the extent he does in terms of technical details. He has many other hobbies too many to list now. The environment is also a big passion of his but also his life work so qualities as both I guess passion and career.

As for my hobbies. He listens and helps me with my bling choices. He is a great listener and will only offer options when I ask for his input. He is very patient and while bling is not his hobby I think he enjoys when I share with him. And his motto is happy wife happy life. As mine is happy DH too though I admit if it comes down to me or him we usually allow me to "win" (for lack of a better word because if I am happy he says he is happy) so I guess the wife being happy takes precedence for both of us. It works for us.

My three passions are animals, cycling and bling. Oh and of course my DH but for the purposes of this thread it's a moot point.

Please share your partner's passions and how it affects you and if you guys share hobbies together or do your own thing apart or both.

We both share a passion for horses. We used to show jump & compete in dressage competitions during the 90's. We still have 4 horses & some adorable pet sheep that we hand raised & bottle fed. We both adore them & we share the stable chores. You can just see the sheep peeping through the fence

How wonderful you share this passion with your DH.
I love horses. My mother was an avid equestrian and it is a passion she shared with us when we were younger. If circumstances allowed I would enjoy having horses as part of our family. They are majestic beings. :kiss2:

Yes My DH loves trivia so we go to some of the trivia nights around town - all this of course before Covid. He has a broad knowledge but his specialty subject is music. Interesting your husband has a love of music Missy - they should get together - too bad they're on opposite sides of the globe! He also likes gardening and home maintenance but any progress is painstakingly slow

Yes if the opportunity ever arises. And my DH also loves gardening and home maintenance so yet another thing(s) in common.

Cycling!! I love that he has this hobby. I think it is so good for his mental health! He goes out with his buddies since I do not share this hobby with him at this point. I enjoy listening to him talk about his routes, speed, parts for his bike, etc., and he enjoys listening to me talk to ballet and jewelry. It works for us.

He does leatherworking. He has made me wallets and bookmarks. He says he's not ready to make me a purse, but he's really good. He has a purse design picked out, but it requires a lot of skill. He's been doing leatherwork almost all of this year. He's also fixing an antique table and chairs we bought. Very handy guy!

That’s wonderful. I love sharing cycling with my dh. It’s like flying but better. Here’s one of the earliest pics I could find since I didn’t start taking pics (no mobile phone til 2002) til I got a mobile phone.

Our first tandem.

That is so cool! Looking forward to seeing your purse when he’s ready to make it ❤️

Love the pictures Missy. You two are truly adorable. I love that you share this hobby together, even sharing the same bike! One of the things that scares me about cycling is getting hit by a car. Do you cycle mostly on the boardwalk where there are no cars?

Thanks @OdetteOdile ❤️
We mainly cycle on the road and we’ve had a few close calls. Greg’s a very safe cyclist so I feel comfortable but I won’t lie. It can be risky. Lots of distracted motorists and pedestrians and even other cyclists. We must be vigilant.

Add to this we are now cycling on a recumbent tandem and it’s even a lower profile so we can’t be too careful. It’s worth it but yes we must always be aware and second guess others actions.

Stay safe Missy. Yesterday my husband got home 1 hour later than expected after cycling for about 4 or 5 hours. I was so worried!! He is very careful too, and he is great about wearing high visibility yellow or red, and always having his light on. He couldn't remember what time he told me he thought he'd be back, but he knows next time to call if he is going to be late. I always worry about him.

Here’s a photo of our flags used to increase visibility. The cat on the flag was created in our Francesca’s image. May she RIP. My dh made that flag.

Yes! My DH is always into data driven and technical hobbies. For the majority of our relationship it was cars. Working on them, tuning them, all of the "computer" stuff that most people are blissfully unaware of. It got to the point though where what he wanted to do to the cars was so street illegal that the poor things just COULD NOT pass inspection and he couldn't drive them without risk. He was also quite interested in astronomy (and still is) but we live so close the NYC our skies are awful, this is on the backburner but still something he follows.

A few years ago I had gastric sleeve and got much healthier, DH was not as heavy as I was and attacked his desire to improve his health with good old diet and exercise. Running and now cycling have become his new hobbies. He is NOT a casual runner. He took the data approach to both and has all the tools to measure and analyze every aspect of his running and cycling so he can achieve his best results.

I listen to him, I know more about these things that most people just from that. He listens to me about all things jewelry. Tada!

Does he use a garmin? When my DH goes out the GPS tracker starts and I get an email with a map that I can track. It also has accident alert. It can detect if he has a crash and will call 911 with his location if he doesn't turn it off within a certain time period.

By default I have become interested in rugby  It’s the only sport that DH is interested in, and unlike football (UK) it doesn’t attract the yobbish behaviour and trouble that’s often associated with it. We both play golf - badly, and have recently got back in to that, and DH loves to travel, so I tag along.

I wish my husband had hobbies but he doesn’t. He’s a workaholic who is attached to his phone even when he’s home. His job is very stressful so he carries that with him all day. He likes to golf but he doesn’t get a chance to do that. Other than sports for his school team I can’t think of anything else he likes to do. We are so different but we’ve been married forty-six years. We married VERY young..It’s amazing we are still together. The secret is that we let each other be who we are..even though we’re very different. I have tons of hobbies that I enjoy.

My DH is a professional photographer. All day every day!
Occasionally he spends $$$ on camera equipment. He shows me what he's working on and I give him feedback. I have learned a lot from him, concerning what makes a good photo. We both have art degrees, so we share interests in anything creative or artistic.
I have my vintage booth at my local antique mall, and he accompanies me when I go thrifting on the weekend.

Here are some examples of his work. He photographs the models in our home studio, then he photoshops them into other situations.

@stracci2000 Wow! He’s very talented!

Oh boy...

DH has one huge hobby. He is a pilot. Not for a job, but because he loves to fly. Started in 1970s with gliders and kept going from there. We are currently restoring an airplane he bought before I knew him. Even if you exclude that, it isn't inexpensive to own, maintain, and fly a warbird. 12 gallons fuel per hour flight. Annual inspection regardless of how many hours flown. The list goes on. Plus a hangar to keep it in. The hangar alone has been costing $$$ to the point that we are buying one so we don't have to rent. The restoration so far had cost about four times more than every piece of jewelry I have combined. (Not a high bar, but still...) Luckily, I enjoy flying too. Too many of our friends have spouses who don't share the interest and it does not go well for many of them. Lots of resentful women drinking heavily at certain group events.

I don't know that I would call them hobbies, but he also has a big interest in smoking foods (not expensive), woodworking (sort of expensive and the tools haven't been touched in years), all things technology (lots of space taking with some expense and the need to periodically be reminded that some area would be $$$$$ to get into and the airplane wants more parts), nice speakers (see woodworking as the speakers he made is why we have those tools), and whatever else I am forgetting.

My husband has two hobbies, flying and golf. He began flying in his early 20's and golf as a teenager. He is great at both. We own a small Bonanza airplane and he loves it very much. He golfs weekly at our CC and enjoys the many groups associated with it. I am not passionate about flying but I don't mind it. As for golf, I am very bad at playing golf but will go out and play 9 holes with him on occasion. I enjoy the social aspect of belonging to a Country Club. And yes, he listens when I discuss bling and enjoys it when I discuss my latest recipes and food that I can't wait to try. It's a nice balance as we always have something to discuss.

My DH has developed a passion for woodwork in recent years. He did woodwork as a subject in high school and has always been very handy (basic plumbing, car maintenance, electricals, and home maintenance of every variety), but recently woodwork has hit the front as a passion. We have enough space in our house to allow him 2 large work areas, and I've been adding to his collection of tools over time.

I've already shared some breadboards and cheeseboards he's making friends for Christmas, and he's doing matching drink coasters as well: they're very beautiful. He's currently making me a potting bench and a garden seat, and after that will make an arch to go over our front path.

DH is an actuary by profession, so this makes an excellent change of pace - tho I think a love for numbers is inherent to both his job and his hobby.

This is a light box - roughly 3' x 3' - that DH has recently made for me. He's making various inserts for it (he does the writing and my DG-D (dear god daughter!) does the graphics. It will have metal legs attached that will slide into permanent fixtures set into our grass, which are otherwise not obvious. This is the one for Halloween, tho we also intend to do them for July 4th, Australia Day, and any other holidays where we think it won't offend people. It won't go up for long - maybe a few days before each holiday. We won't do them for Christmas or Easter, as these are religiously significant days and it wouldn't be appropriate to us, personally. And, of course, we already decorate extensively for Christmas. :))

My DH loves golf! I love that he loves golf however it takes all my effort for my eyeballs not to roll into the back of my head when he starts
talking about it. What he did on this hole or what he did on that hole, or when he is out practicing and how he needs to turn his wrist, shift
his weight...you get the point. I dont play golf and can not help him by giving opinions or constructive criticism. I do my best to listen but
sometimes its just hard.:wink2:

When I talk about pricescope its not usually about diamonds or jewelry. Its more about something going on. I try not to bring up pricescope
unless its something I think might interest him.

He does not have a garmin, but he has a different kind of GPS. He is thinking about upgrading for Christmas. His phone "shares his location" with me, and this morning he showed me how to track him on my phone. I feel much more comfortable now.

My DH always has a hobby....right now he is into old cars! He also supports me in my bling hobby! We had the perfect day yesterday, drove the old 38 Chevy coupe over to my favorite jewelry store where I poured over all the new goodies and then on to a car show!!! Heaven!
