Does Your Antique Jewellery Give Off Vibes?

On the back of another thread, I thought I’d start a new one regarding whether you have any old jewellery pieces that give off vibes when you wear them. It may make you uneasy, make you feel super peaceful, make you feel angry or give you unusual dreams, good or bad.

I have a wedding ring from 1917 in pretty near perfect condition. When I wear it, unsettling but minor things have happened. These can be me arguing with my amazing 16 year old with whom I never argue, plans being cancelled, my mothers mastectomy was booked at the last minute for when I was in Barbados the following week, which was devastating for me. But then to my relief it was postponed whilst I was away until after I got home - I didn’t take the ring with me. It just seems to be that there is a bit of grumpiness around when A&D’s ring is on my hand, versus the usual happiness & calm in which I strive to live my life. It’s not ALL the time, but just something I’ve noticed. More negativity than usual.

I don’t believe in ghosts & I am not religious, but I do believe that ‘things’ can hang onto vibes, including my own grandmothers engagement ring from 1937, which gives me great comfort & peace to wear.

I felt very silly, but ultimately ended up having to have some quiet time with D to have a little chat whilst holding her ring. I explained that whatever happened during her WW1 marriage, happy or sad, possibly angry or even an early death given how pristine the band is, that her ring is now in a good place. A happy, loved & peaceful place with beautiful surroundings. A place where she can just put her feet up & rest easy.

So tell me, have you ever experienced ‘vibes’, what were they like & have you dealt with them?

I really don't believe in vibes, BUT. I bought a man's star sapphire ring in a police auction. When it arrived, I could hardly bear to touch it, it made me so uneasy. I buried it in a drawer for years. Every so often I would take it out, put it on my finger, and go, "Nope," take it off again, and rebury it in the drawer. Finally I gave it to a jewelry dealer for consignment. I hope the next owner, if it ever sells, has a better experience with it.

I had a yoga teacher who was very much into auras and such like and her advice was always to wash preloved pieces and hang them outside to dry, so that any bad vibes would gently blow away. So I figure if I'm washing something anyway, it doesn't really hurt to hang it outside to dry...

I love this thread! Yes I think antique jewelry and vintage can carry other people’s energy. My one Victorian bracelet I have the first night getting it. I had crazy intense nightmares, pretty traumatizing and they kept happening. Once I cleansed and clean the bracelet that stopped. It was pretty dark and creepy but luckily it doesn’t have that anymore.

My vintage gold locket gives me the best vibes, but that might be because it’s stuffed full of ibuprofen. IMG_5708.jpeg

My mom did lend me her pink diamond ring once and something bad happened the only time I wore it. I gave it back to her and refuse to touch it again.

This locket is fabulous!

Totally believe that objects can have vibes. I recently acquired two pieces and then a sequence of good things happened. The problem is that I don't know which item is the talisman-so I'll have to keep them both indefinitely!

@Ally T did the discussion help?

I think so, yes. I also gave it a good scrub all over with hot soapy water, asking it to give up any sadness or negativity, then left it to dry in the breeze outside as per @Tartansparkles . I can honestly say that today has felt really peaceful here at home & I’ve had a really positive day. It maybe mind over matter of course, but I really have found a lot of joy & laughter today, particularly with my 16 year old :kiss2:

It has made me feel at peace with looking for more to add to the stack.

Thank you for sharing your experience and it reinforces the reason for my “ritual”. This may seem ridiculously superstitious but every antique or pre-owned piece I buy gets a thorough cleaning prior to me touching it. The package is unwrapped and it’s immediately dropped into jewelry cleaner that has a a few drops of frankincense. This essential oil is used in churches and temples for “purification and protection” and commonly used for spiritual cleansing. I have been doing this for over 20 years on all jewelry pieces and loose stones. I can’t prove it works since I have no negative energy episodes that were released. It’s an inexpensive purchase of an essential oil that smells like the holidays :)

That’s wonderful! I’m so glad you and D have peace — such a beautiful ring.

I believe in vibes, hence I only have a few hand-me-down items, jewellery or otherwise from my family.

The oldest jewellery pieces in my collection are my mum's wedding earrings which are clips, and she only worn them once for her big day.

I thought I would re-purpose them into a bangle of some sort, however, I decided against that idea and have worn them from time to time for dressier black tie events.

I was with my mum when she bought the other pieces that she had given to me.

There is a nice blue stone of some sort that came from a ring from my grandmother. I had planned to have it re-polished and re-set in a simple setting for casual wear. However, blue is not high on the list of colours that I like to wear as rings. It is unlikely to be of value and I don't really care as I have never been fond of my grandmother as she caused a lot of tension in the family due to her favouritism for certain siblings of my dad.

DK :))

this is my favourite post ! (the valtarian, not mum's pinky ring)

im one of those people who dont pick up on vibes of any kind
this has proved to be both good and bad over my life time

i have inherited jewelley i love because it connects me to mum's family and ladies who i know loved me and loved mum

i have a few pieces i have brought off trade me (NZ E-bay) , i am terrible at internet sales as it was all before joining PC

i have my antique Whitby jet i have wrangled with for years now
im not superstitious......
:lol-2: but well ....you know ...it would have been mourning jewleery if it is indeed antique
mostly im sad to think it was one a longer necklace someone butchered into shorter pieces, using the most awful ugly findings so if it has any bad vibes it would all be directed at who ever did that rather than any bad ju-ju towards a long passed Victorian loved one

not knowing anything of its history i am sure (i talk to inaminate objects) it is pleased with how much time and effort i have put into its remake to make it into into happy,..... how ever exasperated it made me feel and the other set continues to make me feel as
i have two necklaces but only one is finished

i wanted to change its -lets call it vibes for all intensensive purposes- from sad to happy
i like to think a stones history goes way beyound its human involvement as
my Whitby jet was once a beautiful living tree, 180 plus million years ago

im sure i partisapated on that other thread and i did wash the Jet beads once they were off their ugly old findings , i may even have made a thread myself ???

anyway after much deileration i used rose quartz to happy it up
the internet tells me that Rose quartz is a crystal associated with unconditional love, emotional healing, and compassion.
sorry excuse how that cut and pasted :wall:
It's believed to promote self-love, peace, and harmony in relationships. Some also believe it can enhance beauty and youth

:lol-2:
in reality it j just wanted obaque stone beads that wern't going to break the bank

i have not worn it nearly enough, she is called Diana after the Princess just because of the colour combination

i will post a picture shortly once i charge my phone (lucky you guys :lol-2: )
first i must make lunch or there really will be bad vibes in this house !

Because this thread needs more pictures17457209702093723787279254596165.jpg
Not on the best colourd back ground but I'm still feeling unwell after the covid thing and yesterday bring my first day back at work. It's Sunday after noon and I'm not dressed yet
I must wear this on Wednesday as I'm pretty sure the pink Wednesday thread influenced the rose quartz choice

I'm not vibe sensitive or superstitious, but I do talk to my jewelry like some people talk to their plants. I greet it every morning when I open my jewelry box to decide which pieces to wear for the day. And if I'm wearing a piece that came from a specific person, or has a name attached, I always mentally thank them when I put the piece on.

I'm glad the "talking to" seemed to work! I do believe in things having energy or vibes, whatever you want to call them. But I also live in a house that's over 150 years old and have loads of antiques. I have definitely had certain furniture items give off vibes as well.
