I am picking up a pair of earrings tomorrow .90 F VS2 NON CERTIFIED--they were supplied by a dealer--to a national retail store. The stones retail for 3K and they are willing to gve mean appraisal--the dealer & the retail store.

I am getting them for $2200 OTD

They are being set in 14K WG--with screwbacks...

Should I be overly concerned that they are not certified? They are loose stones that are being set--and will be ready for pick up tomorrow..

I live near a HUGe outlet mall and the store has a no refund policy--as most do---exchange only...

The stones are beautiful and I have been looking for several months...

Should I be overly concerned? Did I get a good/fair deal?

Ditto? This makes a big difference on price depending on the weight. Personally I wouldn't buy them with no report or refund policy, without a lab report no way to know what you are getting.

I would not be concerned so much about the fact that they aren''t certified, but whether they are well-cut. And for just a slight bit more money, you can get diamond earrings from Whiteflash that are guaranteed to be well-cut.

http://www.whiteflash.com/golden-wardrobe/Gold_Details.aspx?ItemCode=WFER-4R-Set&CategID=54

The Whiteflash earrings are lower in color and clarity, but they are a little bigger at 1 carat total weight. I have some 0.8 ct earrings from them that are very well-cut, and I still get compliments on them frequently.

Thanks for the feedback!

They are .45 each/.90 total...

Sound like I need to make sure the cut is in the apprasial as well....or find someone local that can evaluate the stones...

They are from a company that has been arond for MANY years--(SoI was told my the manager/staff of the store) and they supply diamonds on a national level to several retail stores...

doesn''t sound that great of a deal, sounds like a retail reasonable rate, not sure if it is even well cut?

Really hmmmmmmmmmmmm... From what I have seen locally...it seems like a SOLID price for this type of stone...(color/clarity)

I am waiting for them to open so that I can call them B4 they set them...Seems like I need to think a little more

If you see it in person and you love it! that is all that matters, Cut is top priority - for most. Make sure you see these in different lighting condition. If you don't have certs- how will you know you are getting the best cut possible? what if the is quite deep making them face up smaller than you think? lots of variables, if you were going to spend $2200, I would find what makes the diamond worth that much instead of it just being "claimed" F color and VS2 but jmho though.

just wanted to include this link that shows color just for reference. Not sure if you visited other stone colors or not, but thought it might also help you in determining whether if the F is what you are really paying for or really want to pay for or whether you would maybe like to go down in color. Just a thought though. When I was looking I really never thought of any other colors outside of F-G range, but found out I could do better for my budget.

ETA: just to give you some ideas that James Allen have many E .42-.44 range for about $722-$890 ish a piece AGS0 Ideal certed diamonds, then you can have those set in earring mounts no more than a few hundred bucks depending on metal choice with UPGRADE policy

I think it''s pretty common for stores to sell non-certed stones in earrings and pendants, but I don''t see any reason why you would take the risk with no return policy. You''ll want to get them appraised for insurance purposes, and I''ll be very curious to hear if the appraiser feels they are indeed F VS2. Don''t tell him/her what they were purported to be ahead of time so you know that the color and clarity grading is totally unbiased.

If they are true F VS2s that are well cut, then the price is fine. If they are poorly cut and/or the color and clarity is actually lower than that, then I don''t think this is a good deal at all.

No, you're not getting a good deal.

I bought a pair of AGS000 A Cut Above F SI2 .82 ctw in WG (from White Flash) for much less! The ones I have are certified and are insanely sparkily.

You're making a mistake buying those stones.

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

I have an appoitment on Monday to have the diamonds appraised and if they do not stack up to what I have been told...I will takeit up with the store...

I am picking up the earrings today and am quite excited to see how they have turned out. If I can get any good shots..I''l ltake a few and post them later..
