Hi all. The diamond below is one of the diamonds I am looking at and I was wondering if the 4 "c''s" sound good. Please let me know what you think and I thank you for the help!! Cheers Chris

EGL Report

Shape: Round Brilliant
Carat Weight: 1.76
Color: H
Clarity: Vs2
Cut Grade: Excellent
Table %: 58.00
Depth %: 60.70
Culet: N
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 7.70-7.78x4.70
Length/Width ratio: 1.01

No idea on the cut performance, will need at least the crown and pavilion angles/height.

Also, EGL is discounted in trade because the lab is generally considered softer in color and clarity grading, so you might not end up with what you think you are getting if the stone is send to GIA/AGS for grading.

Hi Chris and welcome!

If you read this link from the Pricescope tutorial, Grading Reports, you will see that EGL are considered to be softer on grading in some circumstances compared to the top two labs GIA and AGS. This can also depend on the lab branch with overseas being less strict than EGL USA. So it is important to know which EGL lab graded a diamond. As to the cut, we need the crown and pavilion percentages or angles to determine how well this diamond is cut and if possible if you want to pursue this stone, an Idealscope Image. Some online vendors can supply these on request. Also EGL graded diamonds are often cheaper than those graded by GIA or AGS.
