It was in the SMTB a VERY long time ago and I didn't save any of the info. I can't find it via search.

Does anyone have any information on this ring? I want to say it was either an antique Tiffany, Cartier or HW....

Do you think an antique cushion would look right in a similar setting (sapphire sides) or do you think it should be a step cut?

Sorry, I haven't been here long enough to have seen that ring when it was first posted. You asked about an antique cushion in this setting and my vote would be no. I think there's too much going on there to compliment a cushion center stone. The strong linear lines of a step cut center can hold up better against all the lines created by the many, many sidestones, but in my opinion this wouldn't be the best choice for a cushion. I hope you find the information you are looking for.

I think that with that cut of side stones, you really need a step cut center stone as well. It might work with an antique-style cushion, with large facets, but I think the crushed ice style cushion would clash with those side stones. MY opinion only though, perhaps try photoshopping a different centerstone in to see what you think?

I think *maybe* with a chunky cushion and if the side stones weren't quite as steep in depth it could work. The ring is similar to my own so I'm partial. However my ring has halos around the cushion as well the side stones, which may be the balance needed?

Good luck!

I sort of disagree with the others. I think this ring could be gorgeous with a chunky antique cushion, I would nix the diamond prongs perhaps and go with some gorgeous sexy claw prongs to give it a sleeker look, but I think it could be done and be gorgeous! I also think that the colored side stones should have a similiar faceting pattern to the center stone.
