I've never heard of it. It isn't one of the "major" gem labs. Could be a third tier (or lower) lab, or an appraiser of some sort.

You sure it's not "EGL" (European Gemological Laboratories)?

This question brings to mind another question...Am I correct in feeling that GIA is really "the" certification for a diamond or do you all feel EGL is reputable? I''ve always thought - and been told - that EGL is way more lenient in its grading than GIA is. True? Not true?

I would only buy AGS or GIA. I have noticed many sites that have buyback policies will only honor their buyback or trade in policies if you buy AGS or GIA. I am actually shopping locally but browsing online and my local person told m that EGL is not as strict in their grading. So no, I would not buy an EGLbased on those facts. But if you are sure you won''t be trading it in or wanting to sell it and you get an independent appraisal its a matter of personal comfort.
