Does anyone care about prongs being lined up with arrows?

Is it just me or does anyone else also feel bothered by prongs not being lined up with arrows, such as in the following picture:

I know sometimes people use the prongs to cover certain inclusions that might be otherwise visible, but I feel most of the time people just don't care. Is it crazy to ask the setter to set the prongs in certain places that, in my opinion, would look more aesthetic with the arrows?

This one is still not quite lined up, but it's very close. I just feel it looks better this way:

Or even like this:

I prefer that my arrows end under a prong when possible.

When I first got my glamour shots back I obsessed for a bit that the arrows and prongs weren't perfectly aligned, but after I got the ring I haven't really given it much (or any) thought as it's not something I really notice. But with a larger stone I think I would have preferred to have it set more symmetrically, for mind clean's sake.

Not prongs, but an example of how good carefully aligned arrows can look...

Yes, it totally matters to me that a diamond is set symmetrically.

Bothers me. I usually like to see an arrow pointing at 12:00. But I have one H&A diamond that is rotated so that two arrows are straddling 12:00, and it has never bothered me. I had to go dig out a photo of it to see which way the arrows are pointed, actually. :D My other H&A diamond has an arrow at exactly 12:00.

Size of stone plus number of prongs-4 versus 6 prong make a difference. i like symmetrical -either straddle 12 o'clock (6 prong) or straight on 12 in a 4 prong. Either way it has to be symmetrical.

My setting preference is to set the stone so the girdle inscription is not covered/fully visible under scope.

wow - what a great ring!

Oh goddess, something else to obsess about! Just when I thought I was safe.
I have a H&A arriving today and of course the first thing I will see is if the arrows line up with the prongs in some pattern.
I have the feeling they won't, but perhaps I"ll get lucky.
I have had diamonds perfectly set from this vendor and then got one that was crooked in the setting with a crooked prong as well. So I requested that this latest stone was well-set...maybe that will include the way the arrows point.
Wish me luck!

Oh yes - when I had my rb set I made sure they knew I wanted the arrows at 12 and 6, not 11 and 1 or just plopped in there any old way. And it looks great!

I've never thought of this, and now kind of want to run off and check the last diamond ring that I bought! :)

Re: Does anyone care about prongs being lined up with arrows

If you want your arrows set a certain way, you MUST tell your jeweler ahead of time as these arrows are not normally visible to the bench jeweler. When I have a client who wants this I actually mark the diamond at 12 and 6 for the jeweler to know to set these at the 12 and 6 position. The ink comes off in the final cleaning.

It looks dramatic in the pictures that are shared on this thread, but those arrows are normally not visible.
